A surprising find!

Comments about Ibanez ART500E Electric Guitar:

I was looking for a guitar for under $1000 that was 22 fret and humbucker equipped. Based on that, the field got narrow. I have a PRS SE Custom which I love but was looking for a little more crunch. I have always played 22 fret guitars. I also like a thinner neck which are hard to find on 22 fret jobs, most have a thicker neck. So when I ordered this Ibanez I was not confident it would fit the bill, especially at less than $600.00. All I can say is wow! Great looks (I bought the black), nice neck (thin but not too), and the EMG active pickups are stellar. If you have never played EMG actives you should give them a try. They crunch with good clarity but also clean up really well. The guitar is on the light side weight wise but feels solid. I figured I would change the tuners first thing... not so. These tuners keep tune as well or better than any thing I own. I play for an hour, come back hours later and its still in tune. I did set it up with my strings and drop the action a bit but that is the case with any new guitar. I play thru a Blackstar 60 watt and the overdrive is awesome. Overall, this was an exceptional find and a guitar I will keep in the line up. If this guitar was a grand I would have still been happy, but at MF it's hundreds less. Outstanding value!

Comments about Ibanez ART500E Electric Guitar:

I already own a Dean Custom 350 Floyd that I love, but I was getting to the point in my playing and studies that I was going to need alternate tunings. So I needed a guitar with a fixed bridge. I found this used, in spotless condition and couldn't believe the price. I had dreamed of a Les Paul body shape with EMGs or an actual Gibson with "Dirty Fingers" pickups; but always thought it was out of my price range. When I saw this Ibanez, it had everything I wanted and looked and sounded great. The active EMGs are made for metal. I play it either thru a Marshall Valvestate AVT20 12AX7 Combo or thru a tiny Randall Minion 15R with reverb. This guitar has gain to spare. No need for a pedal if you are just looking for gain, this guitar has plenty of it and the tone cuts thru concrete like an atom bomb. Ok, the downsides. It does not clean up as well as my Dean, but that's not why I bought it and it cleans up much better than I thought it would considering it has active pickups. The other thing is the neck. The neck is just thicker and harder for me to get around compared to my 350 and other shred guitars I've played. However, I've taken the opportunity to use it as my main practice guitar since it is more challenging to play and when I switch back to my Dean, it's like switching from a bicycle to sports car. Overall I would highly recommend this guitar to anyone, it's a great overall value and especially good for metal. More advanced players than myself will probably appreciate the neck, where I don't.

Comments about Ibanez ART500E Electric Guitar:

out of the box set up nice and very low action with no fret buzz. first guitar I ever bought where I didnt have to change the strings brcause of turning your fingers black. But the playability is where this guitar is at. Plays awesome, great sustain, and compared to the epiphone LP, a whole lot lighter weight wise.I wanted these pickups with LP scale for playability and WOW. And tone to the bone.
I didnt give it a 10 only because of thecheezy pinstripe instead of abaloan but small potatoes for what you get. Its a keeper.
