OVERVIEW

Thermo Aged solid Sitka top brings enormous volume and a wider frequency range.

The dreadnought body shape of the AVD10, along with the Thermo Aged Solid Sitka Spruce top delivers an enormous frequency range. Combined with a Thermo Aged solid mahogany back and Thermo Aged Spruce X top/back bracing, the AVD10 offers a wide open, resonant sound with vivid tone projection. Herringbone purfling on a brown Violin Sunburst finished body, Ivoroid bindings on body, neck and headstock, specially designed mother-of-pearl fretboard inlay all contribute to this vintage feeling instrument. The mahogany soft-V shape neck in satin finish with a rosewood fretboard provides playing comfort. Grover open gear tuners with butterbean knobs (18:1 gear ratio) ensure accurate, stable tuning and help reduce the headstock weight, while bringing vintage vibe in its looks. A bone nut and saddle are chosen for its ability to transfer the string vibration naturally. D'Addario Nickel Bronze strings emphasize the natural voice of Thermo Aged wood with incredible clarity, resonance and projection.

Artwood Vintage Series
The “modern approach to acoustic guitar tradition” has long been Ibanez's catchphrase for the Artwood Series. Artwood Vintage steps even further back in history and borrows the best features of highly desired vintage instruments.

The Artwood Vintage Series now showcases another vintage element by applying an “aging” process to the tonewood – Termo Aged tonewood, made by a special drying process at a high temperature, commonly known as “baking” or “torrefaction”. Only choice selected and seasoned tonewood can be cured to Thermo Aged wood. The wood is heated in a vacuum with a specific recipe for each kind of the wood in order to release water and decompose resin contained within the wood. As a result, Thermo Aged tonewood becomes light, hard and stable-like tonewood dried for decades, while providing amazing response and a louder sound. The tone character includes a full-bodied low end and a great smooth sustain in the treble strings which are common features of vintage guitars.

Comments about Ibanez AVD10 Artwood Vintage Dreadnought Acoustic Guitar:

This Ibanez is one fine guitar and competes with those guitars that cost thousand more. The Thermal Aged caught my attention and really does age it as if you had bought it 5 years ago. The finish couldn't have been nicer. For instance, there are no glue marks in the interior. A lot of calculated work went into the AVD10. The sound is excellent as the low e sustains and the high e is bright and crisp. Now what's a review without some criticism? Well I really haven't any. The price is very reasonable, sound excellent, playability great and it's a beauty.

Comments about Ibanez AVD10 Artwood Vintage Dreadnought Acoustic Guitar:

I bought this under the incorrect assumption it was all solid wood. I found the descriptions online to be confusing, but when I opened the box the tag said "Solid Top". After researching further on the Ibanez site, I found out it has a solid top and solid back. I was frustrated with myself, but figured I'd give it a try. The first thing I noticed was how beautiful the guitar is. Everyone who sees it comments about it. It's a beautiful brown, and everything from the binding to the tuners is just perfect. I especially like that all the fret inlays are different patterns. A very nice vintage touch. When I first played the guitar, the action was very high, so the first few times I changed strings, I sanded down the bridge a little bit. Once I got the action right, it plays great. It has a very solid feel and plays very smoothly. But the number one thing I would say about this guitar, is that it sounds exactly like I want an acoustic guitar to sound. I played a ton of (more expensive) guitars before buying this one. Some are too loud, too hollow, too bright, too much bass, too "something". But this guitar sounds exactly like I want a guitar to sound. Absolutely perfect. I've had the guitar for about a year now, and couldn't be happier. I've actually been able to fight off "new guitar fever" because I can't imagine finding a better value than this.

Comments about Ibanez AVD10 Artwood Vintage Dreadnought Acoustic Guitar:

Thi AVD10 is a quality guitar and definitely reasonably priced. The appearance is excellent and the workmanship is falawless. There were no glue smears inside the sound hole. After a few simple adjustments of the neck and bridge, it plays and sounds like a dream. The highs, middle and lows are all clear and distinct. The real test of an acoustic for me is to test the 6th. or low E string for clarity and sustain. The AVD10 is remarkable for this ability to ring out true. The fretting is easy and the neck for me is perfect. Now what kind of an unbiased review can you have without some criticism? Well, I haven't any. I am extremely pleased with the AVD10.
