I've been playing guitar for about 6 years now and always do careful research before buying any piece of musical equipment. I chose this guitar above similarly priced ESP Ltd's, Jacksons and other Ibanez guitars simply because it's the only one that felt totally unique, super smooth and had a great sound. Other than it's amazing look, the bound, slim neck really gives the guitar a fantastic feel and together with the thin, S type body I think it's unbeatable. The distortion is a liiittle bit on the 'trebly' side on the Humbucker selection (which I actually prefer) - other guitars had a fuller distortion sound, although this was quite acceptale. The clean sound, however cannot be improved upon - simply fantastic. The 5 way toggle switch actually does what it's supposed to and gives you 5 totally different sounds. You cannot go wrong with this guitar, no matter what style you play. Great buy

I love everything about this guitar except the bridge. The saddles don't lock and the edges pushing to the studs are starting to bind creating tuning problems. I first installed locking tuners (sperzel) and replaced the nut with graphite thinking these would solve it but no dice. I don't know why but the SatPro bridge they have on this guitar is just poorly designed that it's so unstable that even bending a string would cause it to go out of tune. I have to stop every 3-4 songs during a gig just to retune. That's how bad it is.... I recently decided replacing the bridge with a Wilkinson/Gotoh VS100N and go for modification with a different routing on the studs. Well, as it turned out, it can NOT be done because there was no wood to drill for closer spaced bridge posts. So, that's the headache I'm having now. I think this guitar will end up in my fireplace in a few days......

Ibanez sas36

By Ken McComb

from Louisiana

I've been playing this guitar for several months now and find it to be one of the best guitars I have owned, including some far more expense ones I still own and play. It's versitile. It feels the need no matter what style I,m playing. Though I,m not a full-time professional musician, I do gig from time to time and its the guitar I now use the most.

Great Buy

This is a great guitar for the price. The minute you lay your eyes on it it really takes your breath away. I love the pearl outline. The pickups are fantastic whether your looking for crunchy distortion or a slick blues feel. The neck is thin and as smooth as silk. This guitar really just hugs your body and is very light. I highly recommend this guitar to anyone on a budget. Great guitar for a great price.

Almost Perfect

I bought this guitar in a red finish but it has the same amazing nuances in the finish. This series aparrently gets the same setup as the prestige series so right out of the box, it sounds amazing, the only problem I found was the singlecoil pickups seemed a little weak, but I fixed that with a DiMarzio chopper in the neck. Now I have a heavy metal sound in the neck, sweet vintage single coil sounds from the middle, and a balanced humbucker in the brige. It's my main guitar because I can coax any sound I need out of this axe. This model also has a set neck which adds a level of playaility to the upper register.

Nice Bod

By $ynester $herman

I have a les paul right now, and this thing is light as air compared to it. The MOP inlays are the nicest I've seen on any guitar. The neck is amazingly smooth and easy to play on. The only problem is the picups are cheep. I'm just gunna put a dimbucker on and some duncan single coils and this thing'll Kick butt. This is definitely a great guitar for the value

Great Guitar

I have had this guitar for a little over a year now and it is awesome! It is amazingly light, and the body is so thin. The neck is designed perfectly for soloing. The only problem I had with the guitar was the pickups, which i swapped out for a DiMarzio Evo 2 Bridge pickup, and a DiMarzio Evolution Neck Pickup, so now the guitar sounds unreal. I definitely recommend this guitar for anyone who wants to shred.

FINE INSTRUMENT!

By GeetarAdam

from Little Rock, AR

I've owned this guitar now for about 5 months and I love it. The stock pickups did well for certain things, but not so much for a harder sound, so I put a SD hotrails-b in the neck, a DM pro track in the middle, and a DM Evo 2 in the bridge. Now this thing rocks! It's lighter than any other guitar I've ever owned, but not awkwardly so, and the neck is very thin, so this takes a significant strain off my not so big hands. And not to neglect looks, this is a beautiful axe. It's like if an Ibanez RG and a Fender Strat had a beautiful child! And the finish and pearl outline just set it off. I do wish it had a floyd rose trem, but that's my only nit-pick, so I gave it a 4.5 on features. Great buy, and out of the box, one of the most versitile guitars I've seen. Get one, or actually...don't, cuz this guitar is very unique, and I don't want you all running around with one.

excellent in every way

This guitar is absolutely amazing. The first thing that I noticed was the amazing paint job with the transparent grey and the matching headstock; it's what really attracted me to play it. I picked it up and noticed that it was incredibly light and slim. I thought from there on that it was going to be hella cheap, but no! I started running some scales up and down the neck and it felt so comfortable. The neck was slim and the rosewood fretboard felt pretty fast. The pick ups were very strong and made the guitar sing either that or the amazing amp, the marshall dsl 401. There's also a push pull thing that you can play with to customize your tone even further. So yeah try this guitar out and you'll probably become jealous of it and think why can't my guitar be as cool as this sweet ibanez.

What can I say...besides wow!? I just played with one of these, and let me tell you, it is by far the nicest Ibanez that I have ever played. Ibanez makes some great guitars, but this one would have to be my favorite! The finish is beautiful, great sound, and easy to play. What more can you ask for?

awesome!!

I am so happy I was lucky enough to get one of these before they stopped selling them. The binding on these is amazing. Neck is super thin and fast. Looks stunning and is a great deal. Don't be fooled by "made in China" with this axe or any Ibanez product. Ibanez has excellent quality control at all their factories. If you are able to pick up a used one, do it. Only thing I might do is replace the neck pickup of this very versatile guitar.

Best Guitar I have owned to date

Ask me a question

I have the red version of this guitar. I am absolutely in love. If you are considering a strat but want some thing that is more versatile and has looks that stand out, you need to check out this instrument. I was looking for something rear routed preferably with a set neck. I was looking hard at the Fender showmasters. I thankfully had the chance to play one first and the playabilty was awful. I was turned off by the Ibanez name as I thought of 80's metal or progressive. I only intially picked one up to check out the set neck. I quickly realized I was holding a blues/alternative tone machine. The strat tones are dead on. The setup of this thing is just unbeleivable. Such value for the price. Looks stunning as well. The cherry on top is the humbucker at the bridge that doubles as a single coil with the pull of a knob. Absolutely stellar!

Review

This really is a great guitar, the only other guitar that i have liked even close to this is the crate electra, also a good guitar, but the Sa Series is like one of a kind, i love the pearl outline, and the look, but the way it plays is great, smooth neck, unfinished neck (great!!) the finished necks are all glossy and are harder to slide around with, the string reaction is good, i adjusted mine a little lower, but it causes more of a ringing tone, Ibanez made this guitar just about perfect. i would just sudjest for those of you getting it, get some dimebucker 2 pickups in it,, but well worth it.Overall, the Sa is my favorite series of Ibanez guitars yet.

Ibanez SAS36FMTG Review

By Justin-T0vOK

this guitar is amazing! it is very affordable and comes with great features. i like the single coil switch although it is a little weak. im not a huge fan of the Sat-pro bridge(its a little cheap) but it holds nicely and gets the job done. the only thing i would change on this guitar is the neck pick-up if you play metal. other than that its a perfect guitar right out of the box. thanks ibanez!

let me start out by saying i am very hard to impress. this did it! this is one of the only 2 guitars that ive ever really loved. the action is perfect, the neck is perfect, the weight is perfect, and it has a great tremmolo. it even looks beautiful! this guitar is the single best guitar ive ever played (with a pair of EMG's of course)! a new set of pickups and this guitar is top of the line!

Perfect

I was looking for a good intermediate guitar for me. I have only been playing for about 8 months on my friends BC Rich that he lended me. After getting better I went to a music store and one of the guys working there told me to play this. I hooked it up to a Spider III Line 6 30W amp. And it sounded awesome. Perfect tone for everything. You can literally play any style of music with this guitar, and the price isn't bad at all.

Sweet

This is probobly one of the best guitars I've played under $1000. The flamed maple top is beautiful, and the volume and tone knobs pop out. Hard to explain, but it is cool. This guitar is really lightweight and thin, like an SG. The neck is thin and shreddable like a Jackson, but with the comfort of a LP. The bridge seems good. I did a few divebombs and crazy Satriani harmonic things with it, and it stayed in tune. I played a few tunes, Purple Haze, some Megadeth, and a little bit of Santana style stuff. The 2 singlecoils and humbucker, along with the 5 way switch gives you a lot of command over your tone.
