OVERVIEW

Special design makes this a guitar that's easy on the ears, but easier on the body.

Part of Washburn's Comfort Series of guitars, the WCG25SCE features a Grand Auditorium style Venetian cutaway body which is ergonomically friendly for all players with a unique belly and top carve that allows it to hug the body rather than digging into it, providing a comfortable playing experience whether you're sitting or standing. Aside from it's great feel, the WCG25SCE has a solid spruce top paired with rosewood sides and fingerboard to give you plenty of projection while giving you enough tonal play to tackle any style of music with this natural beauty. When you need a boost in your band's mix, or are doing a "plugged-in" event, a Fishman Presys+ Preamp System has you covered. Designed and built to offer maximum control, performance and quality in a small, unobtrusive format, it gives you low-profile Volume, Bass, Mid and Treble controls, a Phase switch, and a built-in tuner with LED display. Other quality appointments include a Grover tuners with Ebonite buttons, alternating maple/mahogany rosette, mahogany elbow comfort binding on the lower bout, black NuBone nut & saddle, and bookmatched back split by a maple/mahogany/maple strip.

Comments about Washburn WCG25SCE Comfort Series Grand Auditorium Cutaway Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

Musician's Friend is the best music store around!! Good deals, fair prices & great customer service. With that said I do like this guitar with the exception that it had a poor fret job on it that needed some work I took care of that but you would think that Washburn would have better quality control. Any way all is good after doing a fret and setup job. Guitar is very comfortable to play.

Good quality, But not USA made.

By ldhutch

from Carthage, MO.

Pros

  • Excellent appearance
  • Good quality workmanship
  • Good sound

Cons

  • Not made in USA

Best Uses

  • Same As Any Acoustic

Comments about Washburn WCG25SCE Comfort Series Grand Auditorium Cutaway Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

The material put into a USA made instrument makes it feel heavier and more solid. Foreign instruments feel lighter made and cheaper.

Comments about Washburn WCG25SCE Comfort Series Grand Auditorium Cutaway Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

As a former touring musician I have had the pleasure of playing many guitars, some are better than others. My Washburn comfort series played well with only minor set-up changes to meet my personal preferences directly from the box. The arm bevel is fantastic, no more, scrapes bruises or rashes after several hours of playing time. Sustain, sustain,sustain... it seems to ring forever. Crystal clear tone, harmonics are on the money and the neck and frets are fast and tight, Overall I would say it is a VERY good guitar and worth every penny. My only real complaint is the case...ie...there isn't one. I spent 3 months on a wait list for the recommended case only to find out it didn't fit the guitar. I finally decided on a Washburn dreadnought case that fits reasonably well considering it wasn't made for a Grand auditorium style guitar. So until they get that figured out, it is only a 4 star instead of a 5.

Comments about Washburn WCG25SCE Comfort Series Grand Auditorium Cutaway Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

This is an all around good guitar. Plays well, stays in tune, looks and sounds very good. A nice step up from entry level acoustics for someone willing to spend a little more for a quality instrument. Price point is good for this item and I would recommend it to any player looking for an acoustic at a reasonable price.
Tuners are not Grovers, but are good quality and guitar was ready to play right out of the box. Each player might see a need for minor tweaking for their particular style or preference but that is to be expected.
As a previous reviewer stated, the only drawback is the lack of an readily available case. As that reviewer recommended, I opted for the Washburn dreadnougt case. It is a tight fit but accommodates this model reasonably well.

Comments about Washburn WCG25SCE Comfort Series Grand Auditorium Cutaway Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

I play live regularly and have just about worn out my '85 Taylor 710. I have never found another guitar I like as much as my 710 but this guitar actually comes pretty close. I love the body shape and design with the comfort edge. The tuners are precise and always in tune and the onboard tuner is great when needed. My sound man and electric guitarist immediately fell in love with it. The ONLY thing I don't like and why I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 is because the neck is a little too thick for me but that is a subjective detail. My 710 neck is very thin. I also wish it came with a gig bag...You will not be disappointed with this guitar and would be hard pressed to find something as good at this price range.

Comments about Washburn WCG25SCE Comfort Series Grand Auditorium Cutaway Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

I purchased this as a stand by guitar, but also wanted to try out a beveled guitar. The sound of the guitar is not as rich as I hoped, but I don't know how much you could ask for with this price range.
