PRS S2 Vela Electric Guitar - Platinum Metallic

The PRS S2 Vela puts a fresh spin on the classic PRS formula, pairing the company’s distinctive offset body design with an unconventional pickup combination and a stripped-down, performance-focused feel. A solid mahogany body and set mahogany neck provide a warm, resonant foundation, while a 25" scale Pattern Regular neck and rosewood fingerboard deliver the comfortable playability expected from PRS. A DS-01 humbucker at the bridge and Narrowfield pickup at the neck give the Vela its bright, punchy character, with a coil tap expanding the range of the bridge pickup. The plate-style bridge uses two brass saddles designed for sustain and accurate intonation, while Phase III tuners provide dependable performance at the headstock. Built in Stevensville, Maryland, the S2 Vela combines timeless American craftsmanship with a look, feel and tonal personality all its own.

Offset Mahogany Body Gives the Vela Distinctive Character

The Vela marked PRS’s first move into an offset body shape, giving this instrument a silhouette unlike anything else in the company’s catalog. Solid mahogany construction provides a warm, resonant foundation with rich mids and a full-bodied response, while the offset proportions and asymmetric bevel lend the guitar its distinctive visual identity and comfortable feel against the player. A set mahogany neck creates a solid connection to the body that supports sustain and a cohesive response across the instrument. Finished in high-gloss nitro, the Vela balances its unconventional shape with the clean lines and refined construction expected from an American-made PRS.

Pattern Regular Neck Keeps the Vela Familiar in Hand

While the offset body gives the Vela a different look, its Pattern Regular mahogany neck provides a familiar PRS feel beneath the fretting hand. The 25" scale strikes a comfortable balance in string tension, while the 10"-radius rosewood fingerboard and 22 frets provide a versatile playing surface for chord work, bends and lead playing. The Pattern Regular carve offers substantial support without feeling overly bulky, making the neck approachable across a wide range of playing styles. PRS bird inlays provide a familiar visual signature, while a double-acting truss rod allows precise adjustment for maintaining the neck over time.

DS-01 and Narrowfield Pickups Give the Vela Its Own Voice

The Vela’s distinctive electronics pair a bright, chimey PRS DS-01 humbucker at the bridge with a Narrowfield pickup at the neck, creating a lively response with full mids, articulate highs and plenty of bite. The DS-01 delivers strong definition and punch without sacrificing the body of a humbucker, while the Narrowfield brings warmth to the neck position without letting the response become overly dark or muddy. A coil tap on the tone control splits the DS-01 for a lighter, more single-coil-like sound with added chime, extending the range available from the three-way pickup selector. Master volume and tone controls keep everything straightforward, giving the Vela a broad palette that works equally well straight into an amp or through a modern pedalboard.

Brass-Saddle Plate Bridge Supports Sustain and Intonation

A PRS plate-style bridge gives the Vela another distinctive element, using two brass saddles engineered to provide strong sustain while maintaining accurate intonation across the fretboard. The simple, substantial design complements the guitar’s stripped-down character while providing a solid anchor for both rhythm and lead playing. At the headstock, PRS Phase III non-locking tuners with wing buttons provide smooth, precise adjustment and dependable tuning performance. Nickel hardware completes the understated presentation, while an included premium gig bag provides practical protection for rehearsals, sessions and gigs.

A Distinctive Offset With Unmistakable PRS DNA

With its offset silhouette, distinctive pickup pairing and stripped-down design, the S2 Vela stands apart within the PRS lineup while retaining the playability and craftsmanship that define the brand. Its bright, punchy voice and coil-tapped DS-01 humbucker provide plenty of range for working straight into an amp or through an effects-heavy rig, while the Pattern Regular neck and 25" scale maintain the comfortable feel of a classic PRS. Made in Maryland with a resonant mahogany body, brass-saddle plate bridge and dependable Phase III tuners, the PRS S2 Vela brings together foward-thinking design, versatile tone and road-ready performance in an American-made offset built for stage and studio.
