OVERVIEW

A longer scale and signature pickups.

The band Periphery has become a force to be reckoned within the progressive metal scene thanks to their complex rhythms and soaring melodies. Guitarist Mark Holcomb helps achieve this full, lethal sound with his PRS guitars and signature Seymour Duncan Alpha and Omega pickups. PRS and Holcomb have worked closely together to develop a truly unique guitar for the SE Series lineup.

"With my SE signature model, we managed to capture all of the defining characteristics of my Maryland-made guitar and turn it into a streamlined, less-costly package. It is an incredibly special instrument, and one that is now the primary focus of my rig in the studio and onstage." – Mark Holcomb, Periphery

The SE Mark Holcomb model truly stands on its own in the PRS lineup and delivers addictive playability thanks to some unique specifications, including a 24-fret, 25.5 in. scale length wide thin satin maple neck with 20 in. radius ebony fretboard.

Holcomb’s signature pickups provide the right amount of output and articulation whether you’re playing sophisticated chords or solos, and whether you’re playing alone or working in the mix of a band. Other specifications include a quilted maple veneer, black chrome hardware, and a 3-way blade pickup switch with push/pull tone knob for coil splitting. Includes gig bag.

Won't stay in tune

Comments about PRS SE Mark Holcomb Electric Guitar:

I tried one of these at the music store. The guitar would not stay in tune. In fact when I tried to tune the D string it took way more turns than it needed to get to pitch. This tells me the nut was grabbing the string pretty bad. If you buy this guitar prepare to replace the nut and the tuners. Then it will be a great guitar.

Comments about PRS SE Mark Holcomb Electric Guitar:

There is a reason Mark Holcomb plays these every show. They are friggin' great! Let's talk about the obvious things that make this different from the rest of the PRS range. First, the 25.5 inch scale length. Great for the Drop C tuning it was made for. I threw some D'adario NYXL 11-56 strings on it and you can tune the low string down to A and it still has good string tension. Next. The 20" fretboard radius. Feels nice and flat. With a little tweaking of the action, it plays like a guitar worth twice the price. Lastly, the Seymour Duncan Alpha & Omega pickups. Oh man, they are great! They are unlike anything I have heard before and sound so sweet under screaming gain or pristine cleans. This thing is incredibly versatile and a steal at it's price point. Pick one up today!
