This was my first Acoustic-Electric guitar. For the on sale price, I'm extremely impressed. The sound is 100 times better than the epiphone pr4e kit. Not quite the Yamaha level but 1/2 the price. On board tuner seems to match up with my snark and a phase button that adds a little overdrive. If you're a beginner like me or need something for the youngsters, give this product a shot. Musician's Friend will have your back either way.

big crack in body on side of bell. fretboard separating from neck in several spots.
frets undressed - so sharp on the ends if you didnt know to check them you could slice your fingers open if you slid you hand up or down the neck with any pressure. scalloping on the edge & border of the fretboard. cracks near the neck/body joint. numerous scratches.
2 tuning gears slipping. and...have to completely remove electronics module to change battery.
this instrument came with all the usual packaging / body & neck coverings, etc....WHICH MEANS IT WAS RETURNED & REPACKED AS NEW TO BE SENT OUT AGAIN!!! THERE WERE NO TEARS OR INDICATION OF ANY KIND ON ANY OF THE PACKAGING THAT WOULD INDICATE THE DAMAGE HAPPENED TO AN UNUSED, FACTORY ITEM.
not good at all MF. between this and the constant, deceitful, price manipulation; it might be a case for the federal trade commission's bureau of consumer protection, and the attorney general.

Comments about Rogue RA-090 Concert Cutaway Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

The guitar had a cheap digital tuner cut and screwed into the side of it. As soon as I opened the box when it was delivered I noticed the digital tuner hanging off the side of the guitar (two of the four tiny screws that were supposedly meant to be securing it in place had torn through the guitar and one was missing) leaving a hollow hole in the side of the brand new guitar... Not impressed.

Comments about Rogue RA-090 Concert Cutaway Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

This is my second Rogue acoustic guitar. It arrived a few days ago from Musician's Friend. The other one is an RA-090 Concert-style one, as well, but it has a sunburst finish and no electronics or cutaway. I've owned it for about two years now.

Having owned two of these guitars, I can tell you a few things about them.

First of all, for the price, they're hard to beat. They are put together well and are sturdy. Also, they have surpisingly decent sustain and harmonics, even with the stock strings.

Both arrived tuned down about a fourth, which is safe for shipping, and I appreciated that.

Both also arrived with moderately corroded strings that needed replaced.

This acoustic/electric model arrived with a 9-volt battery in the tuner's battery box. The battery was sealed in plastic, but upon removal of the plastic, it immediately caused the low battery LED to light up, so expect to replace the stock battery right away.

My sunburst acoustic has a great finish on it. My black acoustic/electric, not so much. It has lots of finish flaws. They are minor, but numerous and fairly noticeable.

This new one also has very sharp fret edges, some rough wood spots on the side of the fretboard, and a few of the frets aren't completely seated all the way into the fretboard, causing some intonation issues. These problems are all easily fixed with basic tools and knowledge, but I felt I should mention them. My old sunburst guitar had none of these issues, however.

The action on both of these guitars is a bit high, but not difficult to play, even with barre chords. I should point out that these guitars are strung with light-gauge strings (10s) and still require tuning fairly frequently.

Also, the nut slots on both were not cleanly cut, so they needed filed and graphite (pencil lead shavings) added, since the B and G strings bind and break, otherwise.

That's about it. If you're still on the fence after reading this, buy one of these. With a little TLC, they're good, cheap guitars.

Comments about Rogue RA-090 Concert Cutaway Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

Rogue guitars are made in China. However, the quality and craftsmanship (tone, action, neck, etc.) are excellent. The built in tuner/EQ is very nice model, with a (small) but full pendulum style display, rather than other models that just have 3 triangular led lights. I purchased 2 of these guitars, and both were well made. I gave this guitar the full 5 stars based on price and quality.

Comments about Rogue RA-090 Concert Cutaway Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

I'm disappointed that the guitar came with dirty strings, a worn-out fretboard, scratches and smudges all over the Finish, the guitar case I looked at over and over again to make sure it was a soft but solid case, a hybrid, that's what I read, and it turned out to be a soft case.

I had a Rogue Dreadnaught a few years ago that I like but it was so big that I didn't really enjoy playing it. The body of this one is a bit smaller (almost exactly the same size as my classical guitar) and I enjoy playing it much more! Sure, it's built from cheap materials and the action is high on delivery, but what you get for the price is fantastic!

If you want to play guitar for fun, buy a Rogue, learn the G-C-D-Em chords, then get on YouTube and find out how many of your favorite songs you can play with your new skills. So fun!

The guitar looks good. I add to adjust the neck to get an even string height. Had issue with piezo strip under bridge. The hold drilled for the piezo strip cable hard shards around the hole cause the piezo not to set evenly under the bridge. Also the guitar is NOT loud. Do not expect acoustically to fit in with a small acoustic group. Try a more expensive model and you will hear the difference. This guitar does not have an active (battery) preamp for the piezo. This is needed. It just has a slide pot which loads the piezo. For the price it is okay as a bedroom practice guitar.

I just received my rogue, I was quite happy with it, it is amazing to me that you can get an instrument is this quality for this price, I bought the scratch and dent so I got it at amazing price, and it looks fine to me, I also bought the fender fa 135 c and the washburn wa90 ce, to compare them, they all play well however since the rogue is less I would say the rogue is the best deal, the action was a little high so I filed the bridge saddle down about a sixteenth to about 5/32 at the 12th fret but I end up doing that to about all the guitars I get, I really like the tuner, I like it better than some of my more expensive guitars, it's a nice guitar and a great deal, I have a rogue mandolin also and it also is a great deal

Only took 3 days shipping.. After unboxing I tuned up using the onboard tuner which I found to be quite nice and accurate. Took a total of 3-4 tuning adjustments till the guitar held consistent tune, another surprise to me. The action on the guitar is well set, not too high at all. Sounds quite well unplugged.. Once plugged in to an amp and messing with the onboard high, middle and low EQ's I realized this guitar sounds best with little to no mid EQ added, and the Low and High turned up. The "Phase" button doesn't seem to really do anything.
All in all, for the price this is A great little guitar for practicing, or even playing a coffee shop. and if you have Effects processors for acoustic guitar you can really make it sound quite nice.

I just received the new green-burst. This is the 4th Rogue guitar I have bought in the last two years, and the second acoustic electric concert cutaway. This guitar has the same flaw as the first one. The fret board is made of two pieces that have a tiny separation in the two pieces of wood. Also the intonation on this one is not as good as the other ones. I am a professional at set up and intonation and it makes me mad when I can't get one right. The proline style tuners are cheap but they are on almost all cheaper guitars... However let me tell you the good points. This burst is really pretty. It plays nice and good action. At least this truss rod moves, the last one would not budge. The guitar is really hot when plugged in and I love the electronics and the built in tuner is really good. I like the small radius of the neck and it is great for youth and women with smaller frames... Still well worth the money...

I bought several Rogues in the last couple of months... I liked the sound of the concert acoustic so I took the chance on this Concert Cutaway acoustic electric... The guitar came as usual for musicians friend in good condition... I found the guitar set up with perfect intonation but the low E string had a slight buzz... The condition was flawless with the exception of a small tiny crack in the fret board... I did not want to send it back so I oiled the fret board... I put graphite on the nut to ensure proper tuning and found it played great... It sounded much like a baby Taylor with a shallow body style... Really impressed for the price... I work on guitars so I went to adjust the truss rod to stop the Low E buzz but found it would not turn... It is stuck good... I could not get even a quarter turn... I sprayed the truss rod with penetration oil and am waiting to see if it will loosen up... If that does not work I will cool the guitar and let the metal shrink from the neck wood and see if I can turn it... The buzz is very slight so I can live with it if I don't strum too hard so over all I gave this guitar a 4 star... Yes I would buy another one in a heart beat for the sale price I got...

Out of box purchase. Sale photos were not of this guitar, probably stock photo of a new one. Description said minor scratches, not true. Beware of buying out of box gear. Priced right though, so wasn't worth returning. Had to file sharp ends of fret bars and replace rusty strings. Electrics work and plays and tone is good.

I bought the RA-090 cutaway for my 14 year old who had grown out of his 3/4 size acoustic. The smaller 000 body is a good fit for him, he can plug it into his amp (and the Eden electronics surprisingly sound pretty good). It has a built in tuner and the neck has a good feel. The first one I received had a shabby paint job (black) and the fret ends were so sharp, it was unplayable. I returned it and was sent another. The second one had good paint, but again had very sharp frets. With xmas looming, I filed the frets. Took about 3 hours and a new set of strings, but it was worth it. He loves it.
