While I've only been playing guitar seriously for roughly four months, I've owned this guitar for around half a year. Coming from a beginner, my word may not be credible, but let me tell you -- this axe is simply amazing for the price. I haven't compared many pick-ups in my time as a guitarist, though they blow my uncle's Gibson out of the water. When I received mine, the action was alright, but I ended up adjusting them after slapping some Hybrid Slinkies on the guitar. My tone knob is currently, well, really loose, but it's nothing that can't be fixed. As well, the port for the amp plug came loose, so I had to unscrew the shielding and then rescrew it back on after pulling the plug back out of the guitar. Again, nothing that can't be fixed. There aren't any notable scratches either; just minor ones. The neck is great, though it isn't as smooth as I'd like it to be. Just loosen up your hand a bit and you should be able to slide down the neck without a problem.Either way, this is a great guitar for beginners, intermediate players, and even the hot-shot expert guitarists, so long as you don't need a guitar with a whammy bar. This guitar is better than most Ibanez I've played, and was much better than my uncle's four thousand dollar Gibson.

My daughter REALLY wanted this axe for her first electric, so I bought one without trying it out first. What a letdown. When I took it out of the box, the front pickup's two screws fell out. No problem though, I put them back in. I tuned the guitar, but the chords still sounded out of tune. I figured it was because the strings were new, so I just kept tuning it every time I played it for the first few days. It still sounded out of tune, so I took it to my local guitar shop. My tech took a look at it, and said the fingerboard was slightly warped, like a roller coaster. So for a small fee he's going to make it play right.Customer service from this site did offer to replace the guitar when I called them about it, but I figured I might just get another dud. Aside from the warped fingerboard and loose screws, the guitar sounds good. But it's definitely not for playing while sitting down; the sharp corners dig into your leg pretty fierce.

I recieved this guitar as a gift and I loved it instantly. Though the pickups are cheap, stock pickups, it sounds awesome. The action is great and when played through a Line6 amp, I find it to have a Brian May sound. A great looking and playing guitar! I own three guitars and I play this one 99 percent of the time.

Just got this guitar today, for my birthday. It's one of the few <300 dolla guitars i've seen that's actually good. The clean tone is kinda weird but it shines through a thick distortion. Buy it or regret it until the day you die.

Best i've played!

I got this guitar for christmas 2 years ago. It was my first electric, so I was pretty excited about it. I love this guitar. I love the shape and the sound. I play in a metal band and this has worked out great for us. I played my friends Gibson SG and liked the sound of mine way better(of course his SG was a lot lighter). But anyways, this guitar is great for any player of any level of any kind of music whether its super clean or has the dirtiest distortion. It also sounds and looks better than any B.C. Rich.

Afew weeks ago, my friend and i were in a local music store. I saw the Paul Stanley Apocalypse Special and pluged it into a test amp. WOW!!! It was an amazing sound coming out of those pickups. I already ordered a Paul Stanley Apocalypse pro and I was thinking that I should have considered getting the special. I also admired the flake finish in the guitar. It was beautiful and I can't wait to get my PSA Pro. Overall this is a great guitar and you should buy it!

I bought this guitar because I wanted to replace it for my cheap unreliable squier strat. This guitar plays well and pretty fast through my Ibanez tone blaster. The only thing I hated about this guitar was it falls to the left when you let go of it

Not too shabby

Great guitar for the money. Awesome for beginners. The odd shape makes it secure on your lap when playing siting down but it also cuts off circulation after a while, watch out for that. When strapped it gets neck-heavy so you have to hold it up which makes playing standing up a real hassle. Mostly a great guitar, especially for the cash. Rock on.

I got this guitar a year ago for my birthday and I was thrilled as soon as i got it, the pickups were a little loose but I fixed that. Amazing sounding guitar, great looks, my only problems are that the knobs are all falling off and it's very off balance. All in all its a good buy for its price.

extremely good guitar for the money

I bought this guitar a while ago and have loved it ever since. The only thing that I dislike about it is that when I got it one of the points was chipped, but that just means I got it for a better price. I have no complaints about the way it plays, I love to shred on it. Great guitar for the money.

I got this Beautiful looking guitar today. Holy Crap! This is awesome! I ask you. How can it get any better? For one thing Paul Stanley from KISS. How rocking is that? It plays great, looks cooler than hell Sounds awsome clean and distorted way out! Guess I gotta get the case now, as none of my other cases fit the big ass end. Not that I am complaining. Cool axe!

I love my guitar

By Scott-z-V27

I bought this guitar because of Paul Stanley. He is the greatest musician in the world in my opinion. I am buying his paintings as well :-). The guitar simply rocks......of course I just saw this weekend that Paul is coming out with a new washburn series with his face on it and a couple acoustic ones as well so it looks like I will be buying a couple more soon. Anyway, this guitar sounds great, plays great for any player of any skill level and the tuning is super. Buy it and love it.

Nice axe for a nice price

Just got this baby the other day and I must say it's a GREAT guitar for the price. I own several other guitars(gibson, ibanez, fender)and mainly purchased this cuz I'm a huge KISS fan and wanted it for the novelty. But when I plugged this baby in I was blown away by the sound. I do however have one complaint. When using the shoulder strap, if you let go of the neck, the head stock and neck dive straight down causing the guitar wieght to be unbalanced. Which could make it hard for a beginner. But you do get use to it. One last thing is that when i got mine in the mail one of the two "V" ends was chipped and broken. So look you guitar over VERY well before you play it. was VERY good and fast about replacing it. Other than that, for the price it's a great axe! Enjoy.

I Bought this Guitar as my First Electric(have an acoustic). The Main Reason i got it was the price. it seemed a little cheap, but when it got to my house it was awsome. Great sound never, comes out of tune, and perfect action. my only beef is there is only 2 knobs.

You know I thought that the Sovereign Special was a good guitar, that is untill I play this guitar.I have to tell you this guitar rocks. For one thing The Apolcalypse is lighter in weight than The Sovereign. The action on the neck right on the money.I play alot of KISS's music and what better to play it on than KISS guitar.I remember reading somewhere that KISS has the most collectables of any Rock and roll band,So by buying The Sovereign (which I've had for about 2 years now)and The Apolcalypse(which I just got)I'm preserving my place in or piece of KISStory. Peace,I'm out

This Thing Rocks

By MainstreamRocker78

I bought this guitar not expecting much out of it due to its price. Man, how wrong I was. This thing plays like a dream. The only thing that I did was change the pickups and the thing rocked out with a nice distortion. Plus, it looks nice too. I highly recommend it.
