OVERVIEW

Classic vibe with modern refinements.

The Squier Classic Vibe Stratocaster '50s is an electric guitar that leaves no doubt as to its true Fender identity. With its cool finishes on an alder body and 21-fret vintage tint gloss maple neck, this beauty definitely has that '50s vibe. But you also get the modern playability of a 9.5" radius neck and medium jumbo frets. The tone is unmistakable as well, with a custom set of AlNiCo 3 single-coil pickups. This Squier guitar's tone is clear and bright with terrific sustain even in crunch mode! Custom-staggered pole pieces provide improved string-to-string balance.

Classic Vibe!
Back in 1982, the very first Squier by Fender guitars and basses came ringing out of Asia. Known for their excellent vintage-quality look, feel, sound and construction, those early Squier instruments and their Fender branded counterparts are now highly sought-after collector's items revered by guitar enthusiasts as models of "getting it right" while aiming at value-conscious players. The Squier Classic Vibe Series reflects that simultaneous commitment to excellence, value and vibe. Mirroring classic Fender designs, the Classic Vibe offering is not intended to be era or vintage correct-but rather imparting the vibe of a classic Fender design. Each has a distinctive feature set combinations- adding up to one classic looking instrument. Great sound, vintage looks, unbeatable value-Classic Vibe!

Wanted a Fender(Squier) stratocaster for years. I have an older Epiphone stratocaster w/SSH PUPS..sounds great, but i wanted the true Fender strat sound. Well read the reviews on the Squier strats, and they were all good,, the price was right 15% off. So i went for it, the Classic Vibe 50's strat. Excellent right out of the box, adjusted height of the high E string,,other than that plays well. I got the green color,,beautiful..Been playing blues i.e. Walter Trout, Gary Moore, Jimi Hendrix, Ritchie Blackmore, and others with this strat, I run it through a Ibanez Tube Screamer, and it howls!! Would recommend to everyone. No flaws in the finish, frets are polished well, no fret buzzing, like i said great right out of the box. Quality is EXCELLENT...Dont pay 5 times as much for a Fender, buy one of these.

All in all this is a great guitar with some careless mistakes on it..A shame really but i think the pickups sound great and the neck feels good and the bodys light..I would buy one again but go over it first to avoid the problems above.
It has great pickups and the neck feels great. Also the frets are nicely done
They drilled the 6 hole tremolo crooked,it looks like some guy just eyeballed it and drilled.Use a template next time?.The string tring tree hole was drilled to big for the string tree screw and the screw wouldnt tighten.I had to to use the the tooth pick method on my brand new guitar.Truss rod is hard to turn..All in all thats about it for the bad.I noticed all this stuff wrong with it unfortunatly after i modified it so,(i mean who unscrews the bridge to check the holes?),well im going to start too

Classic Vibe 50's Stratocaster

By jim keefe

Comments about Squier Classic Vibe Stratocaster '50s Electric Guitar:

Best guitar I have ever bought. I feel cheated by Fender for all the American made over priced garbage I have bought over the years. Go Squier!
I just purchased a Classic Vibe 50's Strat. I also own a Fender American Eric Clapton Strat and a 62 American Reissue Strat. I have owned several other Fender American and Mexican Strats in the past. Let me tell you that my Classic Vibe puts all the others to shame. The pickups on this guitar are the Stratiest pickups I have ever had the pleasure to play! Quack like a duck! Stop wasting your hard earned dollars on American Strats and buy a Squier. You won't believe your ears! Plays great right out of the box. Chinese quality control is meticulous, has to be played to believed.
Top quality all the way!
Unbelievable!

A fabulous Fender guitar

Comments about Squier Classic Vibe Stratocaster '50s Electric Guitar:

Goes perfectly with the new Blues Jr III.
This has everything I want in a Strat. Complex Hendrix type tonality. Light weight. HIgh quality work. Great Lake Placid Blue color. Near perfect playability.
Everything is perfect except the fret ends are a little sharp. Easy to fix with an emory board nail file. If the factory rolled the fretboard edges and filed the fret ends, it would be as good as the top Fenders.
Amazing value. I only hope the great craftsmen and women in China are being treated well. They are doing a great job.

Comments about Squier Classic Vibe Stratocaster '50s Electric Guitar:

I've never played a vintage '50's Strat, so I can't speak to the Squire's "Classic-ness", but it certainly looks a lot like one. More importantly it is a very nice Strat in every other way. The workmanship is quite good, the body contours cool, the neck shape very comfortable, it's light and resonant and the playabilty is near effortless. Now the best part, it sounds fantastic! The pickups have a great attack and ring to them without being shrill. In addition there is enough mid-range chunk to make even the bridge pickup sing. If that wasn't enough the guitar is nearly hum-buzz free. The one vintage Strat that I can compare it to is my '73. The Squire is a very different guitar than the old Fender and in some ways better!

Comments about Squier Classic Vibe Stratocaster '50s Electric Guitar:

First got turned on to the CV line because I saw that they were making a pine Tele. Got one and was so impressed I tried out the Strat version. Was going to get a sunburst 60's model but they had a 50's model in fiesta red I couldn't resist. I really liked this also but then found a used 50's model in white with the gold pickguard. The white one was a 2008 model and found it had a much beefier neck which was nice, it played just as well as my 2008 American Strat which I ended up selling. Just be warned if you get the white with metal pickguard that the metal pickguard will kill the high end of the pickups, found this out after some research. Changed the pickguard for a white pearl one and the difference in tone was amazing, even though I liked the look of the gold metal pickguard better I felt sound was more important. In short the CV series are great instruments, I've been playing for 40+ years and own guitars that cost 10 x's more. On their own the CV series are fine guitars, add the low cost and you have a winner for sure. Good gigging guitars without worrying about scratching a $2000 guitar. These might go down is history like the early/mid 80's Japanese Squiers have. Go try one out if you can, everyone has different tastes.

    Squire Classic Vibe 1950s Strat

    By James Priebe

Comments about Squier Classic Vibe Stratocaster '50s Electric Guitar:

Really a 9+, high quality: the tiger-striped maple neck is really beautifully finished; The Alder body sunburst is stunningly turnedout and the setup out of the box is spot-on. Great string-to-string balance in all 5 positions and all the sound versatility you expect from a Strat. The custom Alnico pickups are great. How can they build this guitar for this money? You can't.
These Classic Vibe series Asian made Strats are unbelievably good for the money. For that matter, they are very good regardless of cost. My teacher, who is also a performing professional musician, has acquired one as his traveling workhorse - leaving a $2,000 Fender at home. So far, I love this guitar.
The quality of the construction and finish is what sets these asian made guitars apart, clearly superior craftsmanship to the Mexican made models.
At this price, with this level of quality and playability these CV Series are a homerun.

Comments about Squier Classic Vibe Stratocaster '50s Electric Guitar:

Towards the end of last summer I decided I wanted to add a stratocaster to my arsenal. I was looking for the best quality strat for a decent price. After a few months of research and regular trips to my local guitar store I had my mind set that I was going to buy one of the Mexican made fender strats and modify/upgrade it if needed.

I came across this guitar on the internet and didn't think I wanted to bother with a squier, but all the reviews were fantastic. They had only one at my guitar shop so i decided to try it and man, I was blown away.

This guitar to me felt better and sounded better than any of the Mexican made strats they were selling and kept up with all of my more expensive fenders (and other guitars) with ease.

The neck on the guitar is honestly one of the best necks I've ever played. I get around it so easily and its very comfortable. The one piece maple neck and fingerboard plays awesome. the fretwork and setup was fantastic. The 9.5 radius feels great in my hands (I'm 6' tall and have normal to bigger sized hands for comparison).

The body is solid alder and sounds pretty good. Most strats wont resonate very much or sustain so well, but for a strat its pretty solid.

as far as the electronics go, I was shocked at how good the pickups sounded. They really have a vintage sound with minimal noise. The pots were all good and everything was put together very nice. Insides were super clean.

The hardware is solid as well. The vintage style tuners hold tune great. I am not really much of a trem guy, so I can't comment much on the bridge as I plan on blocking off the trem system.

I absolutely love the vintage tint on the neck. I have the fiesta red model. I didn't have much of a choice as it was the only one available, however I do like it and the finish on the body is very nice. I especially like the off-white pickup covers and knobs on the white pickguard.

Finally I will say, after owning this guitar for about 6 months I only made one modification. I changed the bridge pickup out for a dimarzio bc-2. This wasn't really as much of an upgrade as it was a change of the sound. I just wanted a humbucker style rhythm tone from my bridge (as I have to sing in my band and live play a lot of rhythms while I sing) while keeping the neck and middle stock for that traditional "quack" sound of a strat.

Overall I think that this is the best stratocaster you can buy for the money. It's great stock and easy to modify if you want! If stolen I would definitely purchase a new one. In fact I plan on buying another anyways, maybe a 60s vibe?

I would recommend this guitar to anyone of any skill level. I have been playing for 10 years, recording and live with bands and it honestly blew me away.

Comments about Squier Classic Vibe Stratocaster '50s Electric Guitar:

This is not a good guitar "for the money," but just a very good guitar, period. The flat neck is the most comfortable Strat neck I've played. Sold electronics that don't need to be changed out, as is commonly thought with Squier models. The tuners work well and look very cool. The glossy finish on the maple is very classy, and the overall fit and finish is excellent. This isn't just a guitar to play till you get a "real Strat"; this is a real Strat.

Comments about Squier Classic Vibe Stratocaster '50s Electric Guitar:

My background is 40 years of playing and probably owned over a hundred guitars.

I got the white one with the gold anodized pick guard. It actually arrived in tune and strobed out accurately intonated! D'Addario strings too = nice. Very good workmanship and the fret work is quite well done with no sharp edges, and good polishing. Truss rod was perfect as checked with a straight edge. The guitar is very light in weight too which is always nice.

I had to use it within the week onstage in bone stock as issued condition when the jack on my main guitar failed (I had decided to carry the CV 50's as a backup since it was so light). To my surprise it actually sounded as good as the main guitar which has Duncan pickups! The only mods I will make is to add a steel tremolo block and USA pots, although they are really just desires as the stock parts work well and are quiet. I may also add some GFS pickups. All these mods are just because I am a tweaker - the guitar doesn't need anything.

The bottom line is that this guitar is an exceptionally good instrument at any price, and it motivates me when I play it! If the Squire label bothers you, then just either don't look at it or sand it off. The guitar is a keeper at any price.

Buy it, you'll like it. The clean tones are fabuous. The neck is a bit narrow and fast. Love it!
It's got it all, just like a Fender Strat. I paid over a lot for an American Strat, and this is almost as good. This is far better than my Mexican Strat.
For this money, or any money, this is a good guitar. The finish is beautiful. The sound vintage. For now, I'm not changing a thing on this.
How can Fender Squier makw this guitar at this price? Amazing.

Comments about Squier Classic Vibe Stratocaster '50s Electric Guitar:

Purchased a Squier Classic Vibe in Olympic white to match my Gretsch White Falcon. I have had probably 30 strats in my life including SRV Models, Vintage Reissues, American Standards, Japanese models, Eric Clapton's, originals, etc. I have been playing professionally for 46 years. This strat is great just as it is. I need a guitar that I can depend on and that captures the sound that it is supposed to capture. The Squier is dependable and captures the vintage sound quite well. I have had real Fenders from the 1950's and the 1960's. This works great for my purpose and if stolen, I haven't lost an heirloom. Trust me, in 46 years of playing, I have had instruments stolen. I play in a classic rock band and have a rockabilly show band (Mighty Mike and the Lucky Strikes). This strat is up to the task right out of the box. A great guitar at any cost. Perhaps an upgrade with a Wilkinson bridge and trem block is in order. Other than that, a great workingman's guitar. Glad I purchased it. I also have the 1960's Classic Vibe in three tone sunburst. Equally a great guitar with a darker sound.

Comments about Squier Classic Vibe Stratocaster '50s Electric Guitar:

So there it is. The real deal. After I've seen or experienced 5 or 6 terrible Squier experiences, I was not too shure about getting another one (I had the standard series before). But after reading countless positive review and seeing the price, I just went for it. Just right out of the box, it was shining. Maybe it was just the beautiful glossy finish, but I felt something else. I suppose this is was guitarists feel when they unbox a real Stratocaster. The maple neck and fretboard, the keys, the golden Squier logo... It's beautiful. I played it alone, no amp, it was just great. The neck is incredible, perfect for strumming, shredding, power chording, bluesing and more. Plugged with headphones, I experienced my first "freaking sweet tone" experience. When I brought it at my gig, that guitar made her point. It's flawless. It feels right. It's comfortable. It's stays in tune even if you beng it like hell. This guitar will never get in the way of your technique or creativity. I own an Ibanez RG5EX1 and my Squier Classic Vibe just destroys it. It's much better than the Fender Stratocasters made in Mexico. I even like it more than a Gibson Les Paul Studio that sells for 1400$!! it's just crazy. So go ahead, whatever style you play. If you like playing guitar, that all that matters. I love my Classic Vibe.

Comments about Squier Classic Vibe Stratocaster '50s Electric Guitar:

The guitar had the best setup of any guitar I've ever owned - right out of the box. Perfect action, no buzz. Finish is flawless - not quite as rich as my sienna sunburst American Fender Strat, but, hey, it's a third of the price of that one.

The Alnico 3's are a bit softer than my other guitars but that is where the 50's "vibe" comes in. No muddiness and all three offer a pleasant array of tones with a noiseless 5 way switch. The neck is perfect. The "vintage" tuners are smooth and cool to look at, to boot.

The switches and knobs seem to be pretty high quality - no quibbles, there.

The trem could be a bit better but the guitar stays in tune without problem and I'm not much of a tremelo user, anyway. The trem is, perhaps the only area that could use a touch of improvement.

Overall, it's a great deal. This is my "daily player". This squire is such a pleasure to play. Even though I have a more expensive guitar, it ends up staying in the case more often than not.

Comments about Squier Classic Vibe Stratocaster '50s Electric Guitar:

The Squire 50s vibe Strat ,one of those great surprises we all read about 10 years from know, and are sorry we didn't buy one! The quality of the workmanship on this guitar far exceed MIM Strats, and the standard . Even though we all seem to tend to shy away from China Production , it seems these (Crafted in China 50s Vibes )are worth every Penny, and more .
Right out of the box ,the feel and set up are there , very comfortable neck , and if you investigate this guitar further you will find that Tonerider Safaris are the chosen pickups ( similar to 54s , with a little more bite ) . This guitar is for Rock ,and Blues, so if your looking for a metal players guitar , Don't Look At This Guitar !
Sound wise ,it's a beauty those 50s Strat tones , Surfing , Rockin and Smooth !

Comments about Squier Classic Vibe Stratocaster '50s Electric Guitar:

This Strat arrived in perfect condition and after a quick tuning, I was playing away on it. It was set up perfectly with no buzz and great action. I'm used to playing a Gibson LP so the maple fretboard and radial surface took a little getting used to, but now I'm all over it. It's faster than the LP and lighter gauge strings and maple fretboard make for easier bending and slides. To my ears, it has a great classic Strat tone and feel. I looked at a lot of American Standards and Deluxes, but this guitar delivers pretty much the same results at a fraction of the cost.

Comments about Squier Classic Vibe Stratocaster '50s Electric Guitar:

Comments about Squier Classic Vibe Stratocaster '50s Electric Guitar:

The Sherwood Green color is pretty cool...not as classic as a Lake Placid Blue...but it's growing on me.
I'd prefer a satin finish on the back of the neck...but that's just me...and it's an easily done mod:))
Love the "Vintage"/Klusen style tuners...my personal faves!
I actually have a 1999 MIM Strat as well and this guitar plays and sounds just as good...No lie!
The Chinese quality is surprisingly good these days...
Think I'll keep this one for a while:^D

Comments about Squier Classic Vibe Stratocaster '50s Electric Guitar:

Bought this as an open box deal but it's worth full price. Absolutely. This is better than MIM strats. I wanted it as a hold over until I want to put down the cash for an American Strat but turns out it plays so good that I don't think I need anything better. This plays as good as you want for a Strat, unless you are a pro it's all you need, seriously. Fender should kill this off, it's that good, there's no incentive to upgrade!

Comments about Squier Classic Vibe Stratocaster '50s Electric Guitar:

These are pretty good guitars certainly better than the bullet and affinity, but I have compared them with the standard strat and the classic vibe is not a better guitar. it is the best Squire label guitar. The tuners, neck, pup's and electronics on my MIM are all better, but that does not diminish the good quality of the Classic vintage. I must say that I have found the G & L guitars very high quality compared to all strat like guitars and I would choose a G & L over these guitars, these are competitive.
