Good when plugged in, Bad without

By Chris-vbvJk

from Texas

Just recently bought this guitar b/c it was on clearance. The quality of the guitar is amazing. It is quite a bit smaller than I thought it would be. The slim body makes for poor unplugged sound. It just doesn't get much volume or range. When plugged in, it is awesome. It has one of the best and most versatile preamps I've ever seen. If you play plugged in, buy this guitar. Otherwise I prefer my Ibanez for unplugged play.

Intonata e precisa

By Marco-KtMcX

Great Guitar

Excellent guitar for the price. Great tone specially when plugged in. I love the fact that it has a built in tuner. The construction makes it look so beautiful and so comfortable to play.

GREAT GUITAR!

By JuggaletteAmaya

from Lockport

I just bought this guitar a few days ago, it's my first guitar. I'm not a great guitar player, I like to play the guitar to relax. I originally got the guitar to play it mainly as an acoustic so I have yet to plug it into an amp. Unplugged though it sounds amazing. (I'll tell you better than the sanded down, 4-string Yamaha that I was borrowing from my girlfriend) I can't wait to plug it in when I get my amp. I love how small the body of the guitar is, it's so comfortable when your holding it, it doesn't hurt your right arm when your strumming. The beauty of the guitar is unbelievable. The only thing I have to say that's negative is with the glossy black you can see every finger print, every smudge, and every little spec of dust. Other than that this guitar is a must have.

Great acoustic

I've owned one for about 5 years and I love it. The only problem is that the pick-up died after about 2 years but I rarely plugged it in so I didn't care much. A great guitar though.

Best bang for buck

By Marc-kmZsx

from Philadelphia, PA

I am a fan of emo and punk rock, and this is the best non-electric guitar I have ever played. I've played things from Clapton to Iron Maiden and it sounds great either way. The built in tuner is awesome and a nifty feature. If you want to avoid paying thousands for a Martin or Taylor, buy this guitar!!!

Excellent Excellent Excellent

I went to a local store on a Friday night and it caught my eye. Played it for a while and somehow it had the "it" factor that we guitar strummers can sense. Went out the next day to another store and out of their array, the only other one I found to be similar (perhaps a notch better) was a Martin slimbody, but alas it was about $250 more. They didn't have the Takamine so I went back, bought this beauty, and have been strumming it non-stop. Lovely, rich sounding guitar. You'll be hard-pressed to do better at this price. PS I also acquired a Roland GR-20 and they work togther like two peas in a pod. I'm in guitar/synth heaven!

Awesome guitar

By Justin Renfrow

from Hartford, Ky

I really had my mind set on buying an ovation until i saw and played this Takamine. I mean it played so well i couldn't pass it up. Although mine is Natural Finish, it still looks just as good as the gloss black. This Guitar sounded awesome whenever i plugged it up to my Churches PA. I would recommend this guitar to anyone. And you can't beat the price. The only thing i found wrong was it has a lot of feedback, which isn't a big problem, considering most acoustic-electrics do have problems with feedback. BUY THIS GUITAR!!!

Wonderful guitar

Action is extremely comfortable, and even with slim body style, has a big sound comparable to dreadnoughts with twice the body thickness. No pickguard is my only complaint, but those can be installed easily. Warning - buy a Takamine case for this, it doesn't fit in usual dreadnought or classical case style. Maybe a grand concert case would work.

Review

By Future Jimmy Page-iqmu2

from New Britain, CT

I just recently played this guitar for the first time. I was very pleased when I heard the great tone, and unbelievable clarity of this guitar. I am not a big acoustic guitar fan usually, mostly because the body is huge, making it pretty uncomfortable to play. But this guitar is so much different from the others. It has a slim design and therefore makes it extremely comfortable to play. This is an all around great guitar, and I have not even mentioned how good it sounds plugged in. I would recommend this to any guitarist looking for a solid guitar for a great price.

GGGGGGRRRRRREEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAAATTTTTTTT

By jakethesnake-5db4S

from Enoree, SC

This is a great guitar. My cousin owns it and wow, the tone is great, when it is amped, and when it is on its own it puts out a nice sound. I use it whenever I record cuz it just blows my Simon and Patrick away. Great guitar for the price, I recomend it to anybody interested in acoustics.

It's not as good as everyone else says it is

By Anonymous

from Undisclosed

First of all, the features aren't that good every takamine has premap and builtin tuner so its not a "special" feature like every1 else says it is, then, the guitar it self isnt that loud compared to many other guitars, but with amp its pretty good, I think it is worth its price tho, if you dont have an amp dont expect extreme high quality tone neways ptty good overall =) o. a lot of amateur bands record with this guitar!

very nice

The guitar is very nice. If tuned down to Eb it almost plays like an electric. The action is wonderful for an acoustic. Mine came with abalone shell inlays which I am not sure they mention or not. I ran the preamp through my Mesa Boogie single rectifier...sounds nice.

A truly excellent guitar

By Mike-Zlrv9

This is truly a phenomenal guitar. It has a wonderful sound that falls right between mellow and bright. I have played this guitar and not been able to put it down. It projects wonderfully and the intonation is excellent. If you buy this guitar, I guarantee that you will not be disappointed.(Especially for this price).

Awesome Guitar!!!

By TakamineBuff0213

from San Diego, CA

I have been looking for a decent acoustic electric for some time now. I have tried some Taylors, Washburn, Yamahas, Carvins and then I saw and played the EG561-C last weekend. It was Love at first strum...I asked if they have some case for it and they had the GC-1530 case that fit perfectly with this guitar since it's smaller than your usual dreadnought. I ended up buying it which I don't usually do but with that price tag, that tone, that black polish look, built in tuner, pre-amp and EQ...I just have to bring this baby home.If you are looking for a great guitar without the price shock..this one is it!
