An acoustic-electric that looks and feels more like a true electric with 5-way switching for plenty of tonal versatility.
The deep color and rich grain of a mahogany top give the T5z-12 Classic a vintage, earthy character. Electric-friendly features include a compact body, a 12" fretboard radius and jumbo frets, which add up to a fast, fluid playing experience. Like its six-string sibling, the 12-string incorporates a three-pickup configuration with an acoustic body sensor, a concealed neck humbucker, and a visible bridge humbucker, plus five-way switching and onboard tone controls, giving players an incredibly versatile electric-acoustic 12-string. Appointments include Small Diamond inlays and nickel hardware, an unbound body, and satin classic mahogany finish.

Comments about Taylor T5z Classic Mahogany Top Acoustic-Electric 12 String Guitar:
Just received the T5Z-12 this afternoon and immediately opened the box. The guitar was stunningly beautiful with its rich Mahogany wood. Immediately afterwards, I tuned it and began playing unplugged. Although they advertise the guitar as an acoustic-electric, the guitar does have a nice ring to it, but the sound is not as loud as a regular acoustic-electric. Later, I plugged the T5Z-12 into a "Roland AC-90" and was impressed with the quality of sound coming from the speaker. The neck feels good and similar to an electric guitar. As for the gig bag, other sites (including this one) give this guitar a low review because of the gig bag. I understand others might feel disappointed that a great guitar doesn't have a hard shell case, but in my opinion, the gig bag is adequate and provides protection. It is lightweight and the front pouch has plenty of room for cable, mic, and possibly pedal if used. Overall, I recommend purchasing the T5Z-12.

Comments about Taylor T5z Classic Mahogany Top Acoustic-Electric 12 String Guitar:
I'm stunned Taylor has made such great quality guitar but sells it in a cheap gig bag! Anyone paying nearly $2K (including tax) guitar expects a good and protective packaging. The fear of causing damage to such fine guitar during transportation far exceeds the joy of playing it. Taylor messed up big time on this one. Also forcing the buyer to pay extra for a hard case that belongs to it is nothing short of an insult.

My first Taylor was not a disappointment! It has many tones because of the pickups.
I Love it!
