I traded in my parlor and a few other guitars and got this at [@]. The base response seemed a bit low but once I got it home it was good enough for me practicing. I put a set of GHS medium silk steel strings on it and they work very well on it. I am having fun practicing and relearning guitar. This guitar is about the same size as the little martin's and taylors but is over a hundred cheaper and comes with a case. It didn't need any adjustment and is a real beauty and sounds good too. A great easy chair guitar.

I've owned several Yamahas over the years, so when my daughter wanted to start playing, I decided on this one, as my full-size guitars were a bit on the large size for her (she's 13).

Let me say that I was stunned at how small this guitar was when it arrived. Honestly looks like a toy guitar, and is the right size for a child. I wouldn't even keep it around to travel with. The gig bag is the best part of this guitar. Well made, plenty of padding, etc.

I did not expect a smaller guitar to sound like a full-size, but seriously... Yamaha, you should do better than this. Sounds VERY small, boxy, and thin. The tuners were also an issue. It was clear that they were very cheap tuners, as you could literally feel them resisting, and even turning back towards you as you tried to keep it in tune. To no avail, this guitar refused to stay in tune.

I normally would recommend a Yamaha as a great guitar, but steer clear of this one. It is not worth the money, or the hassle.

Good selection for a youth guitar. Ordered after returning a different brand and am happy with this. Sounded good right out of the box. This as well as a Luna are good choices. My daughter said it was easier to play than others she had tried.

Comments about Yamaha JR2 3/4 Scale Folk Guitar:

I bought the Yamaha JR2 for something to noodle around on and it fits the bill. I installed G Tone GT6 electronics (under saddle pickup, on board reverb and chorus. 3 band) and wow, what a sound this little guitar makes. Competes with the big boys. Have had some very experienced players play it and they can't believe the action and the sound. I lowered the action down to the deck for effortless playing as well as a set of light gauge Martin strings. Added a set of brass bridge pins just for fun and to bring out the highs.

Been playing for about 5 years - bought this for my 6 yr old son. 3/4 scale makes this a good size for him, and doesn't sound that bad for a cheap guitar. I would buy again.

Comments about Yamaha JR2 3/4 Scale Folk Guitar:

This is an excellent guitar and because of its small size, it's super easy to play for those with smaller hands, like me. The sound is surprisingly nice and rich for a guitar at this price and size, and I love playing it. The finish is gorgeous as well--I have the tobacco finish.

I use this 3/4 size guitar mostly in my music room when I'm learning a new song or working out chord progressions. It's ideal because it is easy to use and has a good sound for its size. This guitar came in a very nice soft case with good padding to protect it. Even though I have both full size Acoustic and electric guitars that I use when I'm out playing gigs, this is what I use at home.
