Added piano realism with advanced AiR sound set.

The PX-850 is the flagship digital piano from Casio' Privia line, with big sound and amazing tones. The PX-850 has the advanced AiR sound set providing an additional level of realism including grand piano lid simulation and sympathetic resonance. This 88-key digital piano also has a dual 20W speaker system and a cabinet that opens providing a rich concert sound.

The award winning grand piano sound in Privia has been dramatically improved. The PX-850 utilizes more than three times the memory of the previous generation for a more natural piano tone. In addition, Casio's new proprietary sound source "AiR" (Acoustic and intelligent Resonator) provides unmatched realism and detail. This engine provides seamless dynamics for a remarkably expressive and powerful performance. For further realism a new Damper & String Resonance and Hammer Response simulator provides the rich sound of the strings when the sustain pedal is used.

The new PX-850 also features a new redesigned 88 note Tri-sensor scaled hammer action keyboard. This new action features new simulated Ebony and Ivory textured keys for an incredible feel and it's three sensors capture the dynamics of a performance with unparalleled speed and accuracy. To further enhance the experience, the action and the sound engine take into consideration the speed at which different sized hammers move inside acoustic grand relative to velocity the keys are pressed, this timing nuance provides the ultimate key to sound experience.

The PX-850 offers an impressive 256 notes of polyphony, as well as a choice of instrument tones including strings, organs, electric pianos and bass. The PX-850 provides split and layer capability allowing you to play bass in your left hand and have two layered tones in your right. Duet mode splits the keyboard into two equal ranges, allowing student and teacher to use the piano simultaneously. An easy to use USB port and built in two track recorder can record and playback your practice and performances. A 20W + 20W amplifier provides incredible sound and an adjustable top lid can create the resonance of a grand piano with the lid completely open, partially open, closed or removed. The matching keyboard cover, stand and pedal board make this a complete digital piano that is a welcome addition to any home d¨cor.

Casio continues the tradition of providing œclass compliant USB connectivity on Privia digital pianos. This allows Privia to be used with Mac or Windows computers without the need to download drivers. Class Compliant USB MIDI also allows Privia digital pianos to be used as a controller for the Apple iPad by using Apple' Camera Connection Kit.

To reproduce the sound of the finest acoustic grand pianos, the new Privia series features Casio' proprietary AiR (Acoustic and intelligent Resonator) processor. Accessing more than three times the memory of the previous generation, the AiR processor utilizes grand piano samples recorded at four dynamics sampling to deliver grand piano sounds with long natural decays and remarkable expression. To further the grand piano experience, AiR adds realism by simulating the sound of the open strings when the dampers are raised by the pedal.

Comments about Casio Privia PX-850 88 Weighted-Key Digital Piano:

The action & feel of this instrument is REALLY good. It FEELS like a real piano when you play it. And that is SO important. The sounds are also very good, limited though they are in number. But it is essentially a piano... not a band-in-a-box type of thing, so know that going into it. I bought one for my granddaughter and liked it so much I'm going to buy a second one for myself because after having played the Privia, I just can't stand the feel of my other keyboard anymore, although it is a very fine instrument in itself with all the bells and whistles including a weighted action.

Casio has really done an excellent job with this product... right down to the natural feeling of the footpedals. You can do a half depression of the sustain pedal and it actually responds very much like on a real piano giving you that half-damped sound. I mean, that is what I would call a CLOSE attention to the small details. There is no doubt in my mind that Casio consulted with quite a number of real musicians when they designed this thing. This piano looks great, it sounds great and it really plays nicely. Stays in tune. And with the headphone jacks, you can practice without bothering anybody else. I love the Privia and I am buying another one for myself as soon as the one in white becomes available. When I hit the lottery, there'll be a Steinway in my living room. Until then, this Privia will do quite nicely.

I think this keyboard offers an EXCELLENT bang for the buck. Hats off to the design team at Casio! They've outdone themselves this time. For many years now they have offered some pretty good digital pianos at affordable prices, but the Privia seems light years ahead of anything else they have ever produced. There should be one of these in every home in the world.
