This keyboard has just what I wanted: *Great* sound, very classy look, and easy to navigate. Not to mention Kurzweil's reputation. Running this through a Sony receiver to a pair of Klipschorns and a Paradigm Reference Series active sub, and the sound (at least to my ear) is stunning. I absolutely *love* the pipe organ voice. Key weighting seems a bit lighter than a piano, but that is more to my liking. Split and layer are a snap. As others have observed, this is not for those seeking an editing platform, but that was not something I wanted... I just want to play! That said, if I live to be 1000, I doubt I can ever reach the limits of what can be done. But I am not very accomplished, plus I lost a finger, which is detrimental. About the only thing I would have preferred would have been fewer piano voices and more organ variations, but that of course is strictly subjective. Gave it a 9 for quality, as right "out of the box" one of the LEDs is flickering, certainly doesn't affect function, but it can't rate a 10.

It's interesting I have played K'S for some 12 years and I still can not find a board with the piano reproduction the K's have. Like many other I play my board may time on Sundays and during the week and I have had problems with the volume slides and 1/4 inputs but these were issues I solved my self being a computer tech. Tech support with company sucks and that's been on more then one occasion. I really wish they would do better because regardless of these issue I am dedicated to Kurzweil (K's).

Absolute Best In This Price Range

By Jimi C

I just recently purchased the PC1x after playing a Kurzweil Mark 10 for many years. I am impressed with the quality of sound as well as the extensive sounds library. I bought it for arranging and orchestration, but after getting the feel for it, I'm sure it will all but replace my Mark 10. What has been the most impressing thing to me is the orchestral settings and especially the quality of individual instuments. I have been sold on the Kurzweil name for many many years and they have once again lived up to their reputation as innovative creators in keyboard sound. This is a great follow up to the PC2.

Awesome board!! This machine is happy with you, sad with you, it feels your energy. Awesome value!! Not for the High Tech Workstation users, but if you just need an incredible portable piano for church or gigs, this is the one...

Great but has glitches

I have been playing Kurzweil exclusively for going on 12 years now. I have owned the PC1x for about 2 or maybe 3 years now, I have also owned the SP88, and 2 PC88's as well. The PC1x is an incredible value, and they are built like tanks, and ofcourse they sound and play better than anything else I have tried. My biggest gripe about this board (and it is a big gripe) is the stability of it's power supply and operating system. I am now on my 3rd wall wart supply for the pc1x and went through a couple on every Kurzweil I have owned. I take good care of my gear but I play a couple hundred gigs a year so they wear out fast. The latest problem I am havng is the unit keeps rebooting over and over again. I have taken it two repair centers both of whom siad they could not fix it and I should send to the factory repair in seattle, not a great option. At this point I want to find a more reliable brand but I just can't pry myself away from Kurzeil pianos.

The best keyboard I have ever used.

By Biggoofygiant25

from Nashville, TN

This keyboard is by far the best value for the buck. It is so versitale and easy to use that it blows my mind. The keyboard comes with an instruction book, but their is really no need for it. It is that convenient to use. The sound quality is what you would expect to recieve from a 5,000 dollar keyboard, but much cheaper. If you are simply looking for a keyboard to have at the house or you play in a band this keyboard is definitly your best value.

had problems with volume

By SHINE

from Bogotá/ Colombia

When I bought this Keyboard it was amazing I could get too many power for a low price. but after 3 years of use I've had a lot of problems. First I had no sensitivity of D# 5 and now F# 4... which it's a great problem when you play dynamic sounds such as Pianos and Strings. Now Volume it's not working, I only hear a very Low volume being unable to perform live. Besides, To have technical support with kurweil it's impossible. Like my friend down of me says:"a brand new unusable board".

As good as it gets

The Kurzweil PC1x delivers an easy to use interface and the powerfull sounds of the exaulted PC2x, as a matter of fact there is very little difference between the two, minus a few options. Key phrase, "Bang for the Buck". I am extremely happy to take this keyboard on stage. with me. You will find the layer and split functions extremely handy, within literally seconds you can create a dynamic sound.

Kurzweil PC-1X

Ask me a question

Awesome keyboard! Action is excellent. Just enough resistance. Sound library is extensive and really provides excellent acoustic and electric piano voices. Was blown away with the quality of this board for the price. Owned a Yamaha S80, sold it and was going to purchase an S90, but glad I gave the Kurzweil a chance. Fantastic board at a little more than half the price of the S90.

Bang for ur Buck!!

By Anonymous

from Undisclosed

After hours and hours of hard reasearch, I picked up a PC-1X. I had originally thought about getting a digital piano, like a yamaha, but for nearly the same price you can have excellent piano, strings, organ, synth, and so on! Im not kidding, the sounds are great, And the price is great. Of course it's not a workstation, or completely customable, but if your looking for a great sounding piano and more, this is your baby...baby...

Great Keyboard!

Excellent keyboard. Great sounds (except violin's). Awesome pianos, horns, bass, etc. Primary use is for studio sessions. Have not tried it on stage yet. Great internal effects, layering features and balanced stereo outputs. This unit is worth the price for the piano's alone. Great action.

Horrible Investment

By Anonymous

Straight out of the box this unit would just shutoff, Tried to contact Kurzweil but to no avail. Problem I have come to find out during the middle of a performance...the power supply. I have not been able to find one that matches the specs so guess what, a brand new unusable board. Kurzweil SUCKS.
