Not what you think!

I bought this thinking the bottom of the mic. Was yellow, when they brought it I found out it was orange. It sounds like good quality but alittle muffled. Your not going to buy a UHF any cheaper.

Way To Go AKG!

This wireless system is awesome for the price. The only problem I have is that there is some handling noise when you switch hands or place it on the stand - but it is very little and shouldn't discourage you from buying this. It has great range and no breakup or delay through concrete walls 150' away. Very clear sound. It may be my first wireless but i am smart enough to know a great mic and this is one. I would buy it for hundreds more. If you are thinking about it then I would definitely buy it.

Perfect for non-critical applications

I purchased this system for my church several years ago, and it performs exactly the same today as it did then. I like the sound of the system, and it blends very well with our Sennheiser 815 wired vocal mics, although it's a bit more punchy. Construction is good, albeit lightweight, and the mic is comfortable to hold. The transmitter is shaped oddly, requiring a tight rubber clip to hold it adequately. Receiver is plastic, minimal status readouts or controls. This unit requires line-of-sight to function well at more than 20' without noticeable hiss or dropouts. Battery life is more like 20 hours, not the advertised level, but still very good. The noise level is moderately high for the price range, and dropout is very very very noticeable (when it happens) but this is avoidable with good receiver placement. At the time, it was the best buy for the money, but now, I'd highly recommend a B-Stock Senheiser G2 with the 835 capsule in that dollar range. In the lower price range, check out the Nady diversity UHF systems. Summary: great for non-critical (jamming, backup, monitoring) uses but don't put it on stage. Get a diversity system.

Good worship mic

We have been using this for our worship as well as our podium mic. It's pretty good in terms of audio clarity and battery life. Recommend using rechargeable bateries, that way running cost is very minimal.

Not quite good enough

By Bud-TKekG

from Franklin, OH

I had to try them. I purchased the US54 freq and the US58 freq to have 2 mics to try for my group. The US54 freq work like a charm, clear, quiet and worked. The US58 freq constantly dropped signal, for our whole concert. Not the quality I have seen from AKG over the years. Hopefully it's a bad system. I'm sure Musicians Friend will swap it out. I'll keep you posted to see if it's a fluke or a quality issue from AKG.
