I have only used it at one gig, but it replaced our Behringer PA almost identically, all the same control and functions, for a good deal less and weighs about ten pounds lighter... sounds great thru our 15's.... we only use for vocals and occasionally drums but the sound is clear and controllable, easy to set up.... and I got an open box model for even less!.... again, if this thing holds up even for a few years it's well worth the investment...

I bought the LP9800 to replace a very efficient Mackie 408S that stopped working after 7 years of use. The LP9800 had all of the features I needed except for Pan/Balance controls which I could get by without because of the stereo channels. The power of the LP9800 was considerably less resulting in a noticeable hiss when turned up to normal levels in my 20' X 22' studio. Also the DPS effects were low quality and mostly unusable for me. I like the mixer but decided to return it and get a better one so I would only recommend it as a good value practice room mixer/amp at the low price that I paid unless you need a lot of power to practice.

I just got mine today as a backup to our Yamaha powered mixer. I checked it out and it seems very nice. Lots of power and my mp3 sounded great through it. It's nice and light, too. If this thing proves durable it'll be cheap gig insurance. I was never comfortable having backups for pretty much everything else except our pa.

Comments about Harbinger LP9800 Powered Mixer:

I am very pleased with this mixer. It can handle passive speakers. I use a pair of Nady 12" 700watts . Also in the preamp section you can run powered monitors and sub woofer.Using the latter config you can choose to use the powered speakers/monitors as the front speakers and use the powered section of the mixer to run the passive speakers. Also the mixer has the capability to split the two amps using one as a monitor. Quite versatile..

Comments about Harbinger LP9800 Powered Mixer:

This is a follow-up of my previous review. We had a couple of rehearsals with it and played one gig and it performed okay. As I got to know it I noticed a hiss at high volume. I also thought the effects were marginal. Maybe I was just being picky but it began to annoy me. Anyway, I was outside the 45 day return limit so I decided to sell it to Guitar Center and get a new Yamaha EMX5 with the 12% coupon MF was offering. To be fair this mixer is not bad and it is a good value but it is more suited to a garage band on a limited budget. Now that I have the Yamaha I think we have excellent gear that can give us top sound quality.

Comments about Harbinger LP9800 Powered Mixer:

I have an old Yamaha EMX88 -- that I absolutely love However, my "old friend" is getting a little "long in the tooth." I wanted to have a backup power mixer...just in case. After doing much research, I discovered that the Harbinger unit has the same basic features as my old Yamaha, including built in effects. The cost of the Harbinger is less that half the cost of a new Yamaha. I thought that this would the perfect backup unit. However, after using the Harbinger one time, I realized that it was every bit as good as my old Yamaha. I decided that the Harbinger was going to be my main unit -- and my old Yamaha was now going to serve as my back-up. Sorry Yamaha!

Comments about Harbinger LP9800 Powered Mixer:

This unit was really a surprise. Hooked it up to an array of Kustom 10" passives and what a sound! Didn't have a sub connected, but you'd never know it. Controlling the lows was a bit tricky at first,'cause I've not had a touchy amp for a long time, After I got the hang of it, the sound was really great. A bit of advice, though, if you've never used one of these types of amps with all the EQ controls built in...read the book first. Then you'll just have to experiment until you get what your looking for. But once you do, be careful not to break any windows! Thanks Musicians Friend for the really great deal!

It was bought as a stand by PA for a small stage, it was used on the small stage, but to replace a Bass Head that crappped out. I used once as PA in my rehearsal room, yet it seemed like when set for active main / monitor.... there was no EQ function like my Carvin had.....however, 9+ channels its a good buy for a starting band - or a back up
