Comments about JBL EON305 15" 250W Passive PA Speaker:

These are great speakers for the money. There are cheaper units around, but the clarity of the EONs can't be beat. Every word you speak into the mic is heard, and that's just what good speakers are supposed to do. I like the fact that they're light, and multiple handles makes them really easy to load / unload off of the van.
I recommend using them with subs, especially if you plan to use them outdoors.
Our band was looking to upgrade our equipment, and our primary concern was weight. The Yamaha mains we were using sounded OK, but it was way too heavy. Mounting them on speaker stands required 2 people. I got a pair of these EONs and boy! WHAT A DIFFERENCE! I can carry both of them at once, and set them up by myself! The composite shell really shed some serious weight off of the unit. I like the fact that it accepts both speakon and 1/4" jacks. I was originally looking to get EVs, but the only set-back to that was the EVs uses speakon connectors only, which meant that I would have had to purchase and replace all of our existing speaker cords. That was the biggest deciding factor.
The EONs sounds thin in comparison to the Yamahas we were using. According to the specs, it's capable of 38Hz to 20kHz. Great, clean highs and mids, but it lacks the bottom.
It could be that we're not pushing it enough, as our amp is only 200 watts.
But then, it could be the (lack of ) density of the shell. Nothing that can't be fixed with a quick tweaking of the EQ. The trade-off between weight and sound is worth it!
JBLs have long been known for great audio equipment.
It's good to see that tradition continue in the EON series.
The composite shell is a solid, one-piece construction.
It's only a couple of months old, so it's hard to say how it'll hold up through the years yet.
But just from the fact that it's of a molded construction, there are no seams that will split, and that's one less thing to worry about. Drop a wooden cabinet once or twice, and you've got problems.
For the price it's a good deal.
But it seems that these mains were designed to work in conjunction with subs.
To get it up to its true potential, I recommend getting subs, which unfortunately means that you'll be spending a lot more.

Comments about JBL EON305 15" 250W Passive PA Speaker:

I am a professional singer/guitarist, actually what I call a "Bar Professional (for the last 13 years). During the summer months I do 6 shows a week, off season 3-4 shows per week. These speakers are easy to handle and sound terrific. JBL's Have never let me down.
As I mentioned before a peer had suggested that I try Behringer so I bought a whole system PPM and speakers. Maybe it was just me but I sent the whole system back after a week of use I just couldn't get it tweaked the way I wanted and purchased the EON's and a mackied ppm1008. Right Choice, for me at least.
I have used a pair of first generation EON's for the last 14 years. In my opinion these speakers are top notch great sound.
Same here I tied a pair of Behringer B215XL Eurolives on the suggestion of another professional musician. tried them for a week sent them back and ordered the EON's.
Paid about the same price I paid for first pair of EON's 14 years ag.

Comments about JBL EON305 15" 250W Passive PA Speaker:

I do a lot of mobile DJ and mobile live sound gigs. I'll set up on the slope of the 18th hole at the Country Club. I want to sound good, look good, and have equipment that is both easy to handle 200 times a year, and tough enough to be handled 200 times a year. I have used both Peavey & Behringer speakers also, but find them not quite as tough, as light, or as loud. (SPL/watt.) I find that get more of bongo / hollow sound with the poly Behringers too. The EON's light weight comes from both the Neo Magnets, and the tough yet light Poly housings. Now that I am over 40, throwing my back out because I saved a couple bucks isn't an option.
Speakon and 1/4" connections
Poly is lightweight, yet not hollow sounding.
Great Value, more expensive, but worth it.
