Nice Monitors Good price

By BlessedOdyssey.net

I've owned these monitors and mixed out of them for 4 months now. I've heard that they don't reproduce good bass. Well given the instance that they're not 2000watt subwoofers yeah. They don't kick you in the chest when it comes to bass. but there regulated at 50 hertz believe me i've done frequency tests on these puppies and they performed. Train your ears and they produce a very accurate mix. They have switches on the back to help accompany how far away they are from the wall and if there in corners this too I've noticed helped with a more accurate mix.

Bang for the Buck!

I just got these things for my home studio based on price, but I was really pleasantly surprised at the sound quality. They far exceeded my expectations. I'm used to working in my friend's studio with his Mackie 824's, and these BX5's compare very favorably, for 1/7th the price! You cannot beat this value anywhere.

Blew Me Away

I can honestly say these monitors are great. I used mackies, and events. I have to say M-Audio has got it right. If you're looking for solid set of monitors, these are the ones. The sonic quality is great, the design is sleek, and the overall sound will BLOW YOU AWAY!! I would go for the BX8'S If I had the cash. But the BX5's and my active sub sound great. Strapped for cash? Pick up a set, and a sub to bring out the lows and you a great setup.

Nice

I am a pro musician/producer. Recently I was out of town and needed to work some mixes. I had no access to my studio but needed a decent pair of powered monitors so I purchased this system. I am very pleased. For the price you won't find anything better.

Best in its class

By AlesisKing

from Columbus, OH

These speakers are great for their purposes. I would recommend these for DJ work and/or to get some sound out of a good keyboard. They have pretty good volume, a little bit soft for playing with a band, but loud enough for a bedroom. The clarity on these speakers is what separates them from the others in this class. Nobody else matches the quality of sound. These have very good mids and highs. I would get the subwoofer if you want some serious bass. The overall bass on these speakers is a bit weak.

Great bang for the buck!

You can't beat these monitors for the price! They have very good, uncolored sound coming from them. I was so impressed by the cost/value relationship that I moved these into my bedroom with my Vetta combo and Boss BR532 to make room for a set of BX8's in the studio.

Can't go wrong with these.

By QueenCity513

from Cincinnati, OH

I love the way these things sound. Beautiful. Very clear, very crisp. You can't do better for the money. As has been noted by others, these won't shake your house down to the foundation. They leave a lot to be desired in the bass department, but these monitors weren't designed to rattle your bones. My advice would be to buy the SBX subwoofer that M-Audio offers at some point to accompany these monitors. I myself have yet to purchase it, but when I do I'm sure I'll be thoroughly satisfied with this system. You really can't lose with these monitors. The sound fantastic, they look great, great price...what more could you ask for?

Incredible!

By Peacefulriot Recordings

from Canton, Ohio

I've been shopping for a solid set of monitors for some time and tried every cheap monitoring method I could... finally I broke down and realized my mixes had suffered enough. I saw these for an incredible price and said what the heck, I'll try 'em. Brought them home and pulled from some old mixdowns I did and the difference was night and day. These monitors are extremely sharp and accurate! Best investment I ever made to my studio and to my customers. This is the kind of quality and price that you should see more often in the same package!

pleasantly surprised

I bought these speakers on a whim, and I love them. I compared them with all the other major brands and they were comparable. The price is most definately right. I think I'm gonna look into the bigger audiophiles also. (I love the blue light)

The little monitors that COULD

By Anonymous

from Undisclosed

Agreed with the other reviewer who stated to not let the size fool you. Not only that: Don't let the smaller name brand fool you. I A/B'd these against two other Yamaha and Alesis monitors (both shockingly more expensive) and these didn't only sound better, I think they blew them away. For the money, HIGHLY recommended.

Top Notch

if any of you out there are like me then you are not to comfortable buying stuff off the net with out being able to test the quality. buy these speakers without fear. i do lots of recording and songwriting, mostly acoustic rock but i play bass, drums, piano and a few other nicnacks and these speakers have a very accurate representation of sound. pleanty of bass warm mids and highs acoustic space is a must and really makes a big difference. i own a marchall cab that has a nice output sound and lots of vol but I find myself playing my guitar through my mixer into the BX5's instead cause it sound so nice. buying a subwoofer might be beneficial for R&B and Rap and M-Audio makes a nice one from what I hear. these speakers are one of the best buys I have made in a long time.

Good Value for a budget studio

By Gdistort

from Norman OK

When it comes to my studio, I need to have it all. (I think I have that addiction, know what I'm talking about?)That is why I can't afford to spend a lot on each component. So instead, I try to find the best components available for good prices. That is why I went with the BX5's. They blew all of the other comparable active speakers out of the water. They really sounded great when comapred to the others. Go to a dealer and take a CD you know well (and you like the mix it has) and put it to the test. I used Blood Sugar Sex Magic. The BX5s really did stand out. The only speakers it really couldn't keep up with where the Mackie 824 aand 624s which were well out of their price range. You'll be impressed for the price, unless you just hit the lottery. Until these run their course and I can afford the Mackie's, these will definitly fit my purpose.

Don't Let The Size Fool You!

By PS-WlguC

Excellent speakers. If you love mixing on N-S10's as much as I do, you will love these. There is plenty of headroom. It took me a couple days to tune them to my room. First with its own rear panel controls, then with the DEQ2496 processor. I chose to leave the speakers flat and use the processor because I do travel with the BX5's. I can save the settings for my room and create new ones wherever I am. You don't have to worry about anything being missing. The bass is there! You can always add the SBX or other subwoofer if you need to.

Incredible sound

By Charleshn

When i unpacked these little fellows, i could say i was impressed by the look and features, but a little disappointed about the size. I thought: "they'll sound tiny". But, surprising, they sounded big! clear silky highs, and incredible mids. Bass is just nice, is not lacking nor overwhelming, unlike other monitors. Great near-field experience, don't place them too far, though, or you'll experience some bass dropdown. GREAT value, incredible sound. If you own a home studio like I do, this is must-have!!

Could do Better

By jonoby

These monitors are not bad at all. The only problems I've been having is the lack of bass. I just can't get the bass I need out of them. There is a matching sub but it's rather expensive. If you're serious about monitors go withe bx8's, they're worth it.

What a difference

By soundgod18

from Co

I was only browsing for some cable when I saw these Studio Monitors I had just bought an amp and some speakers to put in my room. I had a par of bookshelf speakers next to my computer screen and was always afraid of playing my music too loud because my screen would turn green because of the magnetic waves. For some reason I justified buying the M-Audio Studiophile and now I never look back; the speaker?s sound better then any speakers in my room and I can keep them next to my screen and computer with out being afraid of the magnetic waves destroying my computer screen. If you enjoy listening if good music then buy these speakers.

I really did not believe what I was hearing, I thought the sound was coming from the 10" moniters next to them. They are very surprizing.

The little BX5's

By GreenBoxBeatz

from L.A., California

Really nice monitors. I like all the swtiches on the back to tune to the environment you're mixing in. They go loud as hell also, there's 6 notches on the volume on the back and the highest I've used it to is the second. Only drawback is that there isn't enough bass for the hip hop/rap beats that I make. But it's not all bad because when I make a beat that bumps on these speakers they bump hard as hell on a car system. If you make hip hop or something that requires more bass I'd say save up your money a little longer and get the BX8's with the 8 inch woofer. But if you don't have that kind of cash like me, pick up these or the Behringer Truths with the 8 inch woofer.
