Comments about Numark DVD01 Dual DVD Player:

I am writing to express my disappointment with the Numark DVD01 dual digital video player. The unit, quite frankly, will not work in a ?club environment? with the demands required by a DJ or VJ using videos during their performance. The difficultly involves the ?access? of video tracks that the operator selects for playback. When a disc is loaded in the unit, you have to manually push the ?track select? button from the beginning video to the one you want to play. This process goes very slow while the unit ?loads track after track? as you cycle through to the one you want. We use the Promo Only video discs which contain up to 40 selections? there simply is not enough time, while a video is playing, to get the next video cued up.I e-mailed the support staff at Numark and they told me that they realize this is a draw back, but there is not currently a quicker way to load up a selection with this unit.If the people at Numark had done any ?field testing? with this product (with club jocks that use video), they would have discovered this major flaw!

Comments about Numark DVD01 Dual DVD Player:

I have used the Numark DVD01 on a regular basis since about May of 2006 (about 8 months). So here is an honest user review of what it can, and can NOT do.1. CD's - If you need a CD player, skip this product. Yes, it plays CD's and DVD's, but it is designed for DVD's. If you play a continuous mix CD, you will hear an audible "bump" as it passes from one track to the next. This does NOT happen when playing DVD's (i.e. a Promo Only Powerset).2. Cue Time - Nearly 5 to 6 seconds may pass before your DVD (or CD) starts playing! YIKES! Once you know this, you learn to adjust.3. Pitch Control - Can be used for "fun effects", but from a an actual DVD mixing standpoint, forget it. It's too harsh. And you WILL hear the speed movement if you try to adjust the speed while playing live. No way around it.4. User Interface - Blows away ANY home DVD unit you can find. Easy to navigate the disc, easy to see time elapsed, etc. Optional on-screen display. One downside - no way to jump to track 28 - you have to keep hitting next to get there.5. Media - Aside from factory burned, mine plays DVD-R, +R and both forms in RW as well. It seems to prefer DVD -R if you burn at high speeds. I would suggest you burn DVD's as slow as possible or you may have playback issues. As for Dual-Layer -R or +R media, mine has refused to read a FEW DL +R formats. Otherwise, it's happy with most media you stick in it.Final Word - Unbeatable value in a professional grade product. Lots of minor flaws that Numark should (and I think could) correct. Not sure how the newer Numark single disc DVD player compares. The user interface is sweet, now if the functionality can come up to the same level. One Note: My first unit arrived with a flawed left drive, and had to be returned (it stuttered and skipped on DVD's that played perfectly in the right drive). The replacement unit worked fine.

Comments about Numark DVD01 Dual DVD Player:

I have owned my DVD-01 for about a year and a half now the first unit that I bought worked great for a month and then starting acting up skipping etc. so the dealer did a direct swap for me since then the unit I have now has worked great.Major drawbacks are the amount of time required to cue up new tracks when anyone is working on this unit I tell them to have the next song ready to go in as soon as the one before ends because I have got caught up in trying to cue up and have had problems with it being very slow.I use this for a mobile DJ in a school market as well as a rental unit I have it mounted in a Road Ready Case with the VM03 I would recommend rack mounting this because if not it will get beat to death and die. I don't think this is a very rugged unit.I guess you get what you pay for I think I paid about $600 for it and I got a $600 Dual DVD Player if you only do occasional rentals and gigs which I do in the video end of things something like this will work fine but when it comes to doing regular gigs or club stuff go to the Pioneer DVJ's I had a Dual CD player for my DJ business starting out and then realized I was to busy and it didn't cut it so went to the CDJ's.One of the Pioneer reps did a demo at a local music store the other night of their DVJ-1X and the new video mixer and if you have the $$ to spend on it or will be doing reg video work invest in that you will be much happier!
