Junk Tweeters on these Speakers

Comments about Peavey PVx 12 2-Way Passive PA Speaker Cabinet:

Cheap crossovers and tweeter/compression drivers. Peavey has gone the way of Pyle with there specs. These speakers might be 200 watts at most. Be prepared to jump through the Peavey authorized repair hoops as they won't just send you a 2lb driver that you can install in 5min on your own. I have had 3 RX-14's blow in less than a year and each time Peavey replaces them but what a hassle. These high frequencey drivers are only 25watts RMS and the passive crossover is only 1st order for the Bass and 2nd order for the tweeter. We play classic rock and drive 4 of these speakers with a Peavey IPR3000 we don't gig. These get used in a basement for monitors and we only run the amp at 50%. I use the system 2x a month and I am very disapointed in the drivers and Peavey repair service.

Comments about Peavey PVx 12 2-Way Passive PA Speaker Cabinet:

I've been a gigging/touring musician for quite a while. I'll tell you up front these aren't like a JBL or an EV, but for the price, they're great. PVX12's are the monitors I use for small shows, acoustic events, rehearsals, and small bar gigs. You can't beat the tone and durability of these for this price. If you're wanting something cheap and durable for gigs so you don't hurt your main rig, or if you're new to buying a PA system, these are awesome.

Comments about Peavey PVx 12 2-Way Passive PA Speaker Cabinet:

I also own a couple of Electo-Voice 12" cabs. The clarity that you need compared to the EV's is unmistakably missing. When I use the EV's for monitors, I can sing all night with ease. If I used the Peaveys for that application, I would lose my voice have way through the night.

Comments about Peavey PVx 12 2-Way Passive PA Speaker Cabinet:

Choosing PA speakers takes a lot of research because there are so many choices. So glad I chose these Peavey PVX 12's. They are relatively compact, lightweight for passive speakers and are shaped to use as monitors or mains. I called Peavey in Meridian Mississippi a couple times asking questions about these speakers and the Peavey XR-AT powered mixer that I bought used. Each time I spoke with someone that has worked for Peavey over 20 years which is very important for me. I listened to EV 12's and JBL's in-store they were ok. I noticed a zillion EV 12's for sale used so shied away from those. These PVX's have multiple mounting points for speaker stands (side, top, bottom). Great range in sound, great balance of bass mid treble. A lot has to do with the Peavey XR-AT powered mixer that I use which is 1000 watts, 1500 peak. Don't let people talk you into buying powered speakers, make your own decision. Powered are expensive to fix and much heavier. Passive are easy to fix and lightweight. Watch the youtube video by Peavey for PVX's. They have a unique range in that all the sound isn't in one sweet spot several feet away from the speaker (as others are), the sweet spot range goes on for several feet and you can hear it much closer to these. So they're great for small acoustic gigs or electric band gigs.
