Hooked this up, did the update, started working with it immediately. Love this for track automation! Makes my workflow much faster. I find it hard to understand the negative reviews from the "supposed" proffesionals on here. I think maybe you need to be smarter than a 5th grader to operate it. This is an awesome easy to use, durable product! Inexpensive ! Motorized! I use it in conjunction with Studio One V.2, a Studio Live 16.4.2 Mixer. I have had zero problems in over 2 years with this product. I hooked it up via USB. The only down side I see is that it needs more than one fader.

I'm sure the Faderport is a great tool for the studio. But I'm a "plug and play" kind of guy and that is what the salesman at Musician's Friend said would happen. "Easy as 1-2-3" he said. Running it with Logic Pro X from a MacBook Pro 17" is a nightmare. Maybe it has something to do with the drivers. Who knows? I'll get it figured out. Makes me feel as if MF will tell you anything just to make a sale. And they don't have to do that with me... I buy from them all the time.

i think it needs to noted that avid has phased out the hui protocal in favor of eucon.
i have been using a fader port with nuendo and pro tools but when i upgraded to pt 10.6 from just 10 pro tools rendered this lil guy useless.
after going through presonus's customer service and 3 of these units we have pinned the problem to avid.
my point is if you are using PT 10 and above this is a no go. other than that the fader port is a great lil guy. i will miss you lil buddy.

Comments about PreSonus FaderPort Software Automation and Transport Controller:
This unit is great for the price once it is setup. But, the setup is buggy and non-intuitive. You have to flash the firmware to get the motorized fader to work, and this took some fiddling. Once it's setup, it works... however with Presonus Studio One V2 Professional x64 I get weird behavior out of this thing now and then (some buttons don't work, some buttons invoke the wrong function). When this happens, closing and relaunching Studio One gets it working again. However, the fader is such a godsend when mixing and recording automation, and the price is so much less than a full-blown hardware DAW controller, I still recommend it.

Comments about PreSonus FaderPort Software Automation and Transport Controller:
I've used the FaderPort regularly for the last couple weeks and found it to be a great interface to recording software. It gives back the feel of a physical console to recording by replacing the mouse. The motorized fader is great as it moves into place when you select tracks. Also the ability to push button start and stop for recording and playback frees up your hands from the mouse making it easier to record by yourself. Two things that I would note, first check the DAW software for compatibility. I am using it with Logic Pro X, Studio One 2, and Cubase. I haven't been able to run it with GarageBand but that isn't a big deal as I don't use GB. The other thing, be sure to use the power adapter if you want the motorized fader to work. The USB doesn't send enough power to make it work by itself.

Despite other posts, the FaderPort DOES work with Sonar X1 under Windows 7 64 bit. I have been using it that way for months.
However, it will not work if connected to a USB3 port. Also, the PAN control is very jumpy. This issue is known by Presonus and there is no fix for it so just don't use the PAN control. If you stay away from the PAN, this is a great tool.

Comments about PreSonus FaderPort Software Automation and Transport Controller:
I use this product in my studio with Sonar and I love it. Great value for the money, lots of cool features, and easy to install as long as you read the instructions (get the latest ones online).
This thing is great! I couldn't get it to work with Sonar... so I pulled out the instructions. It took about 2 minutes to get it working flawlessly. No problems since.
This thing makes recording and mixing way easier than a mouse and keyboard. The motorized fader is a cool feature and makes writing volume levels a breeze. I would love to have the same product in a larger format.
Feels sturdy. Had some Pepsi spilled on it and it still works perfectly.

S
I've spent hours getting this to work and I'm still only part way there. You have to download updates, manually move files, and register them to get the buttons to work at all. NONE of which is anywhere in their documentation. You find this out only after scouring the forums. My motorized fader still doesn't work and from the posts I've found this seems to be very common. I've read that lots of people have had to return at least one unit because of bad faders - still not clear if that is my problem yet. If you love to tinker with things to get them to work go ahead and buy it. If you want something that actually works out of the box with Sonar stay very far away from this.
Seems like it has exactly what I wanted, though, but doesn't much matter if ti doesn't work.
Comments about PreSonus FaderPort Software Automation and Transport Controller:
I am a working audio engineer and production company owner. I primarily work with pro tools HD but have a secondary pro tools 003+ LE system. While trying to expand my studio I thought the FaderPort would be a good; cheap addition to my LE system being that I do not have a controller surface for it. I have to say purchasing the faderport was a complete waste of time. Nothing works the way as advertised with pro tools. When I received the device; one of the first pieces of paper I saw was a sheet in short saying that not all functions are guaranteed to work with your daw. Despite already being discouraged, I followed the installation instructions and the device only partly worked. I also went to the Presonus website, as recommended, and installed the updates. The device still did not work and actually then worked less. Before the updates the fader actually synced and was interacting with pro tools faders. After the update not even that worked. This is why I ultimately returned the device, the fader was the main reason why I purchased the device to begin with to write automation. This product simply does not work the way they advertise. Wether you are a professional or a hobbyist, I would not recommend this product.

Comments about PreSonus FaderPort Software Automation and Transport Controller:
It was great to find a device that works with ACID. Nowhere on the Faderport packaging does it mention that software. I only knew because it shows up in a list of supported devices in ACID. It wasn't too hard to configure. I ended up having to reboot my PC (but that's because I may have goobered something up on my end), but I have it working. It's made things a lot more convenient and fun! Most of the button assignments are pretty intuitive, and I'm just learning how to set up automation. (Oh, and the Sony ACID Help Files have pretty good instructions on how to set this device up. Look up "Control Surfaces".)

If you use studio one 2.0, it's a no brainer. It's even smaller than I thought it was going to be,(perfect) fits right out of the way on the left side o the desk..I just got it but it worked perfectly right out of the box...I just hate wall warts or it would be a 5 star

Wow, I had always thought of getting one of these but I put it off. I would drag stuff around to be able to track in the studio by myself. All I can say is WOW, this item makes everything easier. I bought a 20' USB cable and have the FaderPort remoted to the main room for ease of tracking.
