The Interface
The VRS-8 is the nerve center to Slate Digital's Virtual Microphone System, featuring eight VMS-One ultra-linear mic preamps, each with the VMS technology built in. This innovative rackmount audio interface achieves best-in-class A/D conversion thanks to its AK5578 converters, with up to 124dB dynamic range on all eight inputs. 

Ultra-transparent, the VRS-8 uses OPA1612 chips on all inputs and outputs and WIMA capacitors for the audio paths for a no compromise build. Even the two headphone outputs incorporate a discrete amplifier for each output for the most pristine quality imaginable when tracking with headphones. There's also ultra-precise clocking with its Jitter and Distortion free XTC satellite-class audio clock. 

The Microphone
The ML-1 microphone is the centerpiece of the Virtual Microphone System. This large-diaphragm mic has a shockmounted, gold sputtered, 6-micron capsule and a state-of-the-art FET circuit path that ensures the most linear, flat and clean "blank canvas" response. Combined with the Slate Digital tube microphone modeling software, it can sound like some of the most classic microphones in recording history.

Record your tracks with this microphone, and later in the mixing session, select any number of models to figure out which is best for the track. You can record a guitar track, for example, and then in your DAW, create multiple mic models with the same track adjacent to one another. You can then blend those signals, or select the one that sounds best for your session. Software is included. This is a game changer.
