Comments about Zoom LiveTrak L-12:

Wow, I just can't quit saying it! I ordered this Oct. 1 when it was back ordered but I'd been watching it since I saw it announced at NAMM by Zoom. I was blown away by it's feature set and ordered it to replace my PreSonus StudioLIve 16.0.2, which is aging, heavy, cumbersome to use and doesn't record.

Well, I can honestly say that the StudioLive is now for sale and the Zoom LiveTrak L-12 easily replaced it.

For the best parts: couldn't be simpler to use or set up. I was recording my set up within minutes of connecting everything. I have owned Zoom R24 and R8s in the past, so I am familiar with their menu system, this one is very similar. The audio quality is top notch, the effects are super simple and easy to use, transparent and sound wonderful/deep. The build quality is a perfect combination of metal and heavy plastics. But it's super lightweight, and ergonomically set up correctly for real human hands (unlike the aforementioned R24 and R8, which seemed like toys in comparison). I can now see why this was backordered, it's going to be selling like hotcakes! I haven't noticed any latency issues and since you can monitor tracks recording with the send effects, it keeps things from bogging down.

The bad is very minimal: No internal power supply (but this isn't necessarily bad, it helps with the weight); no send/return bus or AUX OUT, although you can use one of the headphone mixes to do this, it's a workaround; the LCD could have been a nice crisp OLED with color so easily; Some functions will not work on the fly while using recording or playback when in USB Host mode or Interface mode (i.e. rec/play buttons and on-board track playback while recording or monitoring from your DAW (there may be a workaround for this that I haven't learned yet)).

But that's really it. It's 95% all good for my needs. I plan to use it mainly in my home studio as monitoring, sketchpad/idea recorder and audio interface. But I also intend to use for our karaoke parties!

    Comments about Zoom LiveTrak L-12:

Replacing an old Fotex with the LT-12. Didn't need to crack the manual, the device was intuitive enough to record a 5-track song right out of the box. Love the transfer to flash drive, it's the reason the Fotex is dead.

      Comments about Zoom LiveTrak L-12:

I love this board. It's very versatile and I love how I can mix the recorded tracks to a stereo track right on the machine. I use this mainly for rehearsals and have used it to produce the audio tracks for multi-camera videos (see attached.) The sound is awesome, controls are intuitive, and it can also be used as a DAW console to interface with your computer while utilizing all 12 channels simultaneously. The only thing that would make this better is if there were motorized faders but it does remember your presets and does indicate their saved position via LED indicators on the faders so it's not a big deal that they're not motorized. If you need to record your live sound, get this!
