By introducing exclusive new features like the NT neck and Expression System pickups, Taylor has established itself as a modern pioneer of guitar design, something that's easy to see by looking at any of the instruments from the Taylor 500 Series. Making an outstanding guitar is an exercise in balance: not only in the physical weight and balance of the instrument, but also in the combination of woods used to build it. The Taylor 500 Series is built from a foundation of mahogany for the back and sides, with the option of mahogany, Lutz spruce or cedar on top. The result is more than just a great-looking guitar; it also creates an excellent balance of warmth and clarity in the tone. Of course, the specifics of the sound will depend on body shape as well, and there are several to choose from, such as grand auditorium in the Taylor 500 Series M524Cce Acoustic-Electric Guitar, which is dressed up in the shaded edgeburst finish found on all mahogany-topped 500 Series models.
Other body shape options include grand concert, grand symphony and, naturally, the ever-popular dreadnought. You'll also find some specialty models in the Taylor 500 Series, such as the 562ce Grand Concert 12 String Acoustic Electric Guitar with its doubled-up courses of strings. There's enough variety here to offer something for every guitarist from the traditional to the ambitious, and since they're backed up by Taylor's excellent pickups, you'll be all set to play them amplified or straight acoustic, giving you total control over how you put these high-end guitars to work for you.
