Discover Taylor V-Class Bracing

For the most in-depth information on the web, check out our blog article, Taylor Guitars Introduces V-Class Bracing. In January 2018, Taylor Guitars introduced four V-Class acoustic guitar models. Known for their research and development prowess, Taylor redesigned what many consider one of the most tonally significant parts of an acoustic guitar's construction: the top bracing. While there are many variations of X-bracing, many designed by Taylor Guitars, Taylor V-Class (for V-bracing), represents a new approach. With it, comes volume and sustain previously unknown to acoustic players. Taylor V-Class bracing also provided a solution for intonation imperfections that were previously thought to be all but unsolvable.

X-bracing has long been the standard bracing pattern for acoustic guitar tops. Guitars built with forward shifted, double-X or standard X-bracing provide excellent stability, focused mid-range, robust projection and solid bass response. But they have one flaw. Imperfect intonation. Taylor Guitars Master Guitar Designer Andy Powers hit the workshop determined to find a solution. Inspired by the motion of waves he rides while surfing in Southern California, he created Taylor's revolutionary V-Class Bracing. Not only does it fix intonation issues, but it improves volume and sustain too.

What is Taylor V-Class Bracing?
Traditional X-bracing features a variation of the letter X. Taylor's V-Class bracing introduces a new V shape. The V starts in the center of the lower bout. It opens up to frame the sound hole as it spreads out fully in the upper bout. Fanned braces branch out on either side toward the edges. V-Class acoustic bracing pattern adds stiffness and flexibility to the top wood in a more balanced way. Your guitar gets a boost in projection. String vibrations flow out more evenly. Sustain is noticeably improved. With Taylor V-Class bracing, notes sound more harmonious because they are. Upper register notes in a chord don't get choked out. Harmonics sing uniformly up and down the neck. The sour notes you're used to hearing will disappear. Taylor's V-Class bracing helps the guitars stay in tune, project louder and let notes shimmer longer.

Hear it for yourself with Taylor V-Class guitars:
Taylor K14ce Builder's Edition Grand Auditorium Taylor's K14ce Builder's Edition V-Class Grand Auditorium acoustic-electric features a solid koa body and a torrefied Sitka spruce top. The V-Class bracing gives the Sitka added volume, dynamics and resonance. Its beveled armrest and beveled cutaway make it a more comfortable playing experience. Premium appointments include paua inlays and edge trim, inlaid purfling, premium Gotoh 510 tuners and a Silent satin finish with Kona burst.

Taylor PS14ce
The Taylor PS14ce V-Class Grand Auditorium acoustic-electric guitar pairs striped West African ebony from Cameroon with a sinker redwood top. The bold and complex tone is enhanced by the V-Class bracing. The hand-sculpted armrest on the PS14ce is ergonomically friendly. Special paua and pearl inlays adorn the fingerboard. Onboard Taylor ES2 electronics supplies perfect plugged-in performance.

Taylor K24ce
Hawaiian koa makes up the body and top of Taylor's K24ce V-Class Grand Auditorium acoustic-electric guitar. Koa is beloved for beauty and tonal warmth, but the tone can be absorbed as it rings out slower than other tone woods. Taylor's V-Class bracing fixes that, boosting your initial attack and creating smoother, longer-lasting sustain. A maple Spring Vine fingerboard inlay, and big leaf maple body, rosette and logo binding complement the koa's natural beauty. The K24ce also features onboard ES2 electronics.

Taylor 914ce
Taylor's 914ce V-Class Grand Auditorium acoustic-electric guitar marries an Indian rosewood body with Sitka spruce top. The V-Class bracing bolsters the 914ce's sonic performance, keeping the rosewood overtones in check and beefing up the volume and sustain. A beveled ebony armrest and Venetian cutaway increase playing comfort. Taylor ramps up the 914ce's visual appeal with appointments crafted from abalone, pearl, paua, ebony and koa. Taylor's ES2 electronics complete the package.

In April 2018, Taylor added four more Grand Auditorium guitars to the steel-string V-Class series. Like the initial offerings, each of the following guitars comes with stage-ready Taylor Expression System 2 electronics, which features three uniquely positioned and individually calibrated pickup sensors.

Taylor 614ce
The Taylor 614ce V-Class combines a solid torrefied Sitka spruce top with a hand-rubbed Brown Sugar stained solid figured big leaf maple body. This steel-string guitar provides you a vintage warmth in an ergonomically friendly cutaway design.

Taylor 714ce
V-Class bracing amplifies the volume of the 714ce's solid Lutz spruce top, complemented beautifully by the richness and bass response of its solid Indian rosewood body. Detailing includes koa binding, 3-ring herringbone-style rosette with mirrored, bias-cut Douglas-fir with maple/black trim, Honey Brown shading and more.

Taylor 814ce
Taylor's flagship model sounds even better now with V-Class bracing enhancing its Sitka spruce and Indian rosewood combination, as well as an ultra-thin gloss finish and protein glue construction.

Taylor 814ce Deluxe
A solid choice for any performer, the 814ce Deluxe offers finger stylists amazing articulation and extra punch when strummed. Taylor gave this beautiful model plenty of aesthetic upgrades, including Pearl "Element" fingerboard inlays, maple binding, rosewood top trim, maple radius armrest with rosewood edge trim and a single-ring abalone rosette edged with rosewood. When you're serious about your musical career, the Taylor 814ce Deluxe acoustic-electric guitar makes for a wise investment.
