All Hodge silk swabs are made from 100% Chinese silk, very absorbent, very compressible to avoid bunching, and lint free. Most Hodge swabs are made using a ball chain, while the saxophone swabs and bass clarinet swabs use a plastic-coated lead weight. Black silk, virtually impossible for the swab to get stuck in the instrument.

Comments about Hodge Bb Clarinet Silk Swab:

I know it isn't exactly the intended purpose, but I use this swab in the necks of all my saxes and the 'Q' on my bari. Since the alto and tenor sax swabs can easily bind in the necks, this smaller swab does a much better job, and I also run it through the high F tone hole on my bari through the 'Q' from time to time to clean out the spit valve area.

For those players who need a CLARINET swab, since clarinets have a conical rather than cylindrical bore (meaning they don't get any narrower up high like saxes), this swab is unlikely to bind in them. I would recommend it for that purpose, as well.
