OVERVIEW

Brighter, more powerful, and more responsive through the entire range of the fretboard.

The Red Series by Aquila offers a unique feeling and a strong sound. Until now, it was necessary to increase a strings gauge to reach lower frequencies, which makes the string less bright and responsive.

Aquilas new approach is nothing less than revolutionary: leaving the gauge unchanged, but increasing the specific weight of the material string by string. As a result, the instrument sounds brighter, more powerful, and more responsive through the entire range of the fretboard.

The strings also maintain their intonation better (because thicker strings need to be fretted harder, pulling them farther out of tune).

I have been dialing in this Baritone Ukulele and after working on the action the strings (Aquila) were not sounding very good. I have read that if nylon strings are removed, slacked, and returned to pitch that will suffer, at least it is common on stand up basses.

I purchased these Reds as I had heard that they were an enhancement over the other Aquila technologies and they are a bit more responsive and seem to have a bit more tension. Whether they are hard tension or not they do feel tighter. So far, so good. The Baritone Ukulele now sounds better. There is also a bit of stretching involved as with any other synthetic or gut string out there.

I use my ukulele daily for children's music classes and, while these strings sounded and felt great, the G-string on every set broke after just a few weeks of use. I went through three sets before switching to another, less expensive, brand and I've yet to break a string with the other company's strings.

Comments about AQUILA Red Series 89U Baritone Ukulele Strings (DGBE Tuning):

Even after trying several brands/models of strings, I was always disappointed with the voice of my bari... until I found these. They've improved the sound considerably, they stay in tune as well as any, IMO, and they've lasted- even the wound strings, for months of daily playing.

Great feel and tone. Seem to be really stretchy, but used to banjo strings, so this could be normal.

I'm better than a novice nut not quite an expert. That being said I think the Aquila brand strings are by far one of the best strings for sale today. My order was delivered 1 day later than was projected but the shipping was free so I was not upset all, the package was in excellent condition when it arrived. I couldn't be any happier with these strings.

Tone took some time to adjust to from my standard D'Addarios I had on there.. once I got past that I love them, bright, clean clear tones, only real beef is the D string started to unravel at the 2nd fret almost immediately, but that could be on me and not the strings...I bend a lot..or maybe a little nick in that fret? (but I don't feel one?) ready for another set, wish they made them all unwound...
