Impractical packaging defeats purpose

By GtrJay

Comments about D'Addario PL009-5 Strings:

The strings are not individually wrapped. This package contains five thin strings coiled together in a loop. When I needed a quick string change on a gig, trying to separate one string from the five was highly frustrating. If you want singles to have for string breaks on gigs, don't buy this package.

      Comments about D'Addario PL009-5 Strings:

Not much to say, it's a back up string. While restringing my guitars, I've occasionally broken the smaller strings. These seem to be decent replacements so that I don't have to waste an entire package to replace the string. I bought extras in several different sizes. Glad these are available.

          Comments about D'Addario PL009-5 Strings:

Out of this PL009- 5 strings I broke 3 of the strings on my strat and 2 on my tele in the past 3 days. I changed both guitars with my 10 pack sets and everything is fine. D'Addario are very good strings, I have used them since 1975. I think this was a bad Lot of strings they were running that day that slipped by the QC. I cannot give D'Addario a bad comment over 5 strings after all the packs I have played!

              Comments about D'Addario PL009-5 Strings:

Have used GHS Boomers for 10+ years with zero issues. However, over the last months the .009 strings have become unreliable. On my 25.5 scale guitars, when doing whole step bends, they break after a few hours of playing time. Reliability is a MUST and YES my guitars are set up correctly! Rather than changing to 10s and after replacing 3 recent sets of strings to replace the single broken high Es, I bought these to replace my remaining packs of GHS 9s. Problem solved. Have since switched from GHS.

                Comments about D'Addario PL009-5 Strings:

I somehow always find myself breaking the E string on guitars especially ones where I am setting up or removing the neck on. This allows me to replace the broken E string without diving into a new string pack. A great idea.
