As far as tuners go, i have this and the boss TU-80 tuner. the TU-80 gave out on me within a month, and this thing is still working fine three years later. I don't get what people are saying about this not being good. Unless you are deaf, you can tune with this (trust me, i had a friend use it on his first day of having a guitar. It worked fine). I use pitch pipes far more than regular electric tuners, and i love this one. Get it!

Very touchy about air pressure

Doesn't really work. Low E has two notes depending on breath. Get a harmonica instead. Or a tuning fork.

Comments about Kratt SN10 Guitar Pitchpipe:

these are getting hard to find and I'm glad to have it in my bag. sometimes you have a dead battery, or your electric tuner just up and died, or it's too dark to read the electric tuner or whatever, so i grab this thing. and hey, when the big EMP goes off, this tuner, me and my martin will still be rockin :-)

Comments about Kratt SN10 Guitar Pitchpipe:

Pitch pipes work just fine, as does this one. Before the recent advent of electronic tuners, they were the universal standard if you didn't have a piano handy. But in order to use one, you can't be tone deaf.

Comments about Kratt SN10 Guitar Pitchpipe:

This tuner is sturdy and well made. I bought it because my old pitch pipe was getting a bit sharp. The new one is too! Tried blowing hard, soft, and in between...still registers slightly sharp according to two different electronic tuners. I use it for getting started when restringing a guitar. The electronic tuners can get a bit confused if you are way off in pitch when stretching a new string. All in all, a useful too.

Comments about Kratt SN10 Guitar Pitchpipe:

I come from the time before affordable strobe tunders, and I have used pitch pipes almost exclusively for years. This one is not quite as good as my old cheap Gibson one that has apparently been discontinued. A few reviews have said that blowing too hard makes it go sharp, but I can't say I noticed this. If so, you'd have to blow REALLY hard to make it go sharp -- you wouldn't be able to do that on accident. It seems to be on par with every other pitch pipe that I've owned.

My one complaint and the reason I like my old Gibson cheapo better is that the part that you blow into doesn't have any kind of a lip on it; it's just a straight pipe. So it can tend to fall out of your mouth if you are using both hands to tune your guitar. If it had some kind of a lip or notch in the ends that you could hold with your teeth then I'd give it 5 stars, but I have to subtract a star for that.

Also a little bit disappointed that it doesn't come with any kind of case. I'm going to put this thing in my mouth so it should have a case to keep it clean.

It seems like machining a groove into the mouthpiece and a cheapo vacuum molded case would've cost $0.05 . There's really no good reason why these features would be absent.

Price is up on these things. I bought one with my guitar back in 1978. 5.00 then. LOL Surprise they still make them. Glad MF carries them.

Comments about Kratt SN10 Guitar Pitchpipe:

If it's a noisy environment, best to use a tuner that has a visible display to indicate accuracy as the surrounding noise level will drown out a pitch pipe, or at least distort the sound output of it. For quieter environments (outdoors, cafes, etc.) it works very well and is easy to carry. Also, it requires no power, so it is perfect for places where no electricity is available.

Comments about Kratt SN10 Guitar Pitchpipe:

Lightweight and easy to carry when I'm on the move...no need for a bulky powered tuner. Does not need external power, just blow into it at normal breathing volume (not excessive pressure) and you will get the correct pitch. Breathe too slowly or sharply and the pitch will distort a bit, but normal breathing is the key to accuracy. Durable and travels well. Good product and the price is right.

Comments about Kratt SN10 Guitar Pitchpipe:

The worst tuner I have ever used. If you blow too hard it goes sharp, not hard enough and it goes flat. If you inhale you get an all different tone than if you exhale. All in all, you will be out of breath and too tired to play by the time you are done tuning. On a lighter note, if you blow in and out of all three pipes at the same time, you will get a cool harmonica sound.

Comments about Kratt SN10 Guitar Pitchpipe:

Sort of helpful if you're putting on new strings and need a reference point but beyond that pretty pointless. Note fluctuates depending on air pressure, providing no accuracy. Cough up for an intellitouch (compact for travel) or for the KORG pitchblack pedal is my suggestion.
