Harder than hickory!
Balanced and carefully crafted using hand-selected white oak. Grown in the mountainous regions of Japan, this particular species of oak is a harder wood than hickory and will take more wear, tear, and punishment. It resists chipping and wearing soft. Made with Pro-Mark's exclusive Millennium II manufacturing process, each stick is hand-finished and hand-inspected. The result is a strength and durability no other stick can match.

I have been looking for a drumstick that could take a beating because I am a very heavy hitter, as I do play mostly rock and metal type music, and this stick has been the perfect choice for me. I don't think I'll ever switch to a different type of stick after being spoiled with these. If I had to come up with one complaint about these sticks, it would probably be that they are a bit heavy, but I've gotten used to the weight and of course you can only expect that much weight when you buy something made out of oak wood.
ONE THING TO CONSIDER! The nylon tipped ones are nowhere near as high of quality as the wooden tipped ones. I bought a 6 pack of the nylon tipped ones and on about 8 of them, the tip fell off mid playing. although part of the blame is on me because I am a heavy hitter, but other nylon tipped drum sticks have never given me this problem, such as the Vic Firth classic hickory drumsticks. I had a pear of those in 5B nylon tips and they worked fine, but they were nowhere near as durable as the Japanese White Oak wood tipped drumsticks from Promark.

I am a profesional drummer. I have been using Promark 747 Nylon sticks since 1978. Thats a long time. I have seen the sticks raise in price and the quality go down. The sticks are not as good as they used to be. The are using cheaper wood and putting less interest in the manufacturing process and charging more. Trust me I know the difference. It wasn't always like that.

Comments about PROMARK 6-Pair Japanese White Oak Drumsticks:
I've gone back & forthe between 5A hickory, 5A oak and 2B hickory. I tend to prefer the oaks because they feel solid and the finish is easy on the hands. Hickory does rebound better but also splits more easily. I've used Promark almost exclusively, with digressions through other brands that are similar, but keep coming back to these oak 5As.

Comments about PROMARK 6-Pair Japanese White Oak Drumsticks:
The 5a's were making me work too hard gripping the stick. I wanted something bigger and a touch longer. These fit the bill. I've been using the Japanese Oak since they came out and they're a very durable stick. Probably buy these from now on.

Comments about PROMARK 6-Pair Japanese White Oak Drumsticks:
These have been my go to sticks forever. I play mostly Metal, and these hold up to the punishment I give them. I play drums as an outlet for life's frustrations, and play very, very hard sometimes. These are the only wood sticks that deliver.
Comments about PROMARK 6-Pair Japanese White Oak Drumsticks:
These sticks were a gift for my son who plays professionally. But the quality was very good and he doesn't any other kind. Very nice to deal with.

Comments about PROMARK 6-Pair Japanese White Oak Drumsticks:
I have small hands and have always used 7A sticks, but i liked the length of fatter sticks(but were uncomfortable in my hands) I went to PROMARK site and seen the "Jazz" were the same as 7A only longer, so i tried them. They are now my stick of choice, and with PROMARK white oak, you can't go wrong(no matter what size you prefer)!!!!!!

Comments about PROMARK 6-Pair Japanese White Oak Drumsticks:
Was introduced to ProMark 7A by an incredible drummer many years ago. Have used them exclusively for over 25 years now. Any other stick feels huge in my hand now. The white oak is so much stronger than the hickory stick. When I played the hickory sticks, bandmates called me Beaver, because there was always a pile of wood chips on the floor when I moved the kit. These sticks last a long, long time. I'm a pretty hard hitter, and they still hold up.

Comments about PROMARK 6-Pair Japanese White Oak Drumsticks:
These last longer than hickory. They resist dents and cuts from cymbal edges. They are a little too slippery at the grip end, but are well balanced and heavy. They give a satisfying hit on snare and toms.

Comments about PROMARK 6-Pair Japanese White Oak Drumsticks:
I don't think I'm particularly a hard player, and I don't break my sticks. However, they do chip and make a mess and get stuck to my moon gel, just frustrating. So I tried these because the wood is extremely hard and have been very happy with them. There are enough different models made with the Japanese White Oak that anyone could find one that would be comfortable to play. I think if someone is prone to chipping like me or breaking sticks, these are great.

Perfect weight and length for balancing light touch and power. Pretty sturdy for their thickness, though they break a bit more than I'd like. I've been using these sticks for years and really, really like them.
