A Refined Amp with Inspiring Tone
Designed for guitarists who are serious about their sound, the Katana KTN-100 offers exceptional tone and touch response for stage playing, recording, and simply practicing at home. The custom 12-in. speakers are driven by a special method developed for the flagship Waza amp that optimizes the speaker and cabinet character. This gives you authoritative punch and cutting presence previously attainable only with high-end amp designs. In combination with the five selectable amp characters, the Katana KTN-100 produces class-defying power and expressiveness to meet any playing situation.
Five Original Amp Characters, Honed for Rock Playing
Sharpened to perfection by the BOSS engineering team, the Katana KTN-100’s five amp characters offer everything from organic vintage tones to modern high-gain sounds. Clean is natural and transparent, while Crunch offers satisfying grit and response. Lead has a wide gain range to suit many styles, from fat, stinging blues solos to fluid legato shredding. With DNA inherited from the Waza amp, Brown delivers refined high-gain tone sought after by the world’s greatest rock players. The Acoustic character further enhances the Katana’s versatility, providing optimized tone that makes acoustic-electric guitars sound stunningly natural.
Leave Your Pedalboard at Home
With its built-in BOSS effects and recallable Tone Settings, the Katana KTN-100 lets you perform anywhere with just a guitar and amp. Connecting to BOSS Tone Studio via USB provides access to 55 effects that are fully customizable for your needs. Going beyond standard distortion, delay, and reverb, the selection also includes powerful tone-shapers like pitch shifting, ring mod, slicer, and more. You can load 15 different effects in the amp at one time and use up to three simultaneously. Four Tone Settings let you store custom amp and effects setups for instant recall, and you can always jump to the current panel settings at the touch of a button. It’s also possible to connect optional footswitches and expression pedals for hands-free control on the gig.
Grab-and-Go Operation
While the Katana KTN-100 includes many advanced features, it’s amazingly simple to operate. Dedicated knobs for multiple gain stages, three-band EQ, and presence allow you to quickly dial in your tone by ear, just as you would with a standard tube amp. Essential effects parameters are adjusted with a simple knob twist, and memories can be stored with a brief button hold. The Power Control is great for throttling back the volume for small stages and home playing, and also includes a Standby setting that mutes the sound for switching guitars or taking breaks. And by flipping out the integrated tilt stand, you can easily angle the amp back for better sound projection.
BOSS Tone Central
At the BOSS Tone Central website, you’ll find numerous free amp and effects setups for the Katana series. Created by pro guitarists, these setups provide ready-to-play sounds for various music styles, and also make great starting points for building your own sounds. They load into the memories in a Katana amp via the BOSS Tone Studio editor software, which is also available at the site. In addition to Katana effects selection and customization, BOSS Tone Studio gives you a convenient way to organize all your Katana setups for different gigs, recordings, and practice sessions.

Comments about Boss Katana KTN-100 100W 2x12 Guitar Combo Amplifier:
It seems lately that there are two kinds of people that play guitar: Spoiled brats that compare everything to a 5,000 Mesa Boogie hooked to 25,000 worth of rack, or people that have yet to discover indoor plumbing is actually a thing.
This is by a real guitar player.
If you're like me, you don't have all the talent in the world. You're a few years past your sell by date. You don't have thousands on thousands to throw at tone. Like golf, you play more for the sheer love of it than the fact you're good at it. Let's face it: In the end, we'll never be as good as we want to be.
If that's you, this is your amp. Stop looking. Hit the add to cart button and buy it. That said, here's what to expect:
READ THE INSTRUCTIONS BEFORE YOU POWER UP AND PLUG IN! (Everybody read that 5 times 'till it sinks in.) You do have to update the amp before you use it with Tone Studio. The instructions are all on the Boss site along with the files and it's very easy to do IF YOU READ THEM.
Once you're past that, go for broke. It sounds great out of the box, and playing with the effects on the amp proper is very, very easy and quite a bit of fun. You can entertain yourself for hours just with that alone.
But plug into Tone Studio and that's where the fun really begins. It's not very intuitive, so it'll take some playing around with before you figure it all out. There's a couple of tutorials online, but they're really no better than you just fishing around for yourself.
Once you figure it out (took me about 45 minutes) then one thing will become very, very clear to you:
THIS IS A SOUL SUCKING DEVICE AND WILL OCCUPY EVERY WAKING MOMENT OF YOUR TIME FOR THE FORESEEABLE FUTURE.
Tons of effects (they say 55 so I'm just going to assume that's correct) and what's more each one is so customizable that the possibilities are limitless. This amp is a nerds paradise. You'll have more fun playing than you've had in a long, long time.
Pros
- Great Sound, Crunch Tone and Clean Tones.

Comments about Boss Katana KTN-100 100W 2x12 Guitar Combo Amplifier:
This is a great sounding amp. I'm an ol' Salty dog that has always chased that Tube Tone. The Katana 100/212 is the only amp that within minutes had me sold. Played it with the band, plenty loud enough probably to much power. I am playing at 50w setting and it's got plenty of volume and bite. This am is a lot lighter then my Black star HT60 Stage amp and that is a welcomed aspect within itself. I would HIGHLY recommend this amp to anyone, especially the gigging guys. This isn't your ego marshal stack but it sure responds like one. I got to say, I never though it would say it, but I'm sold on this solid state amp first time out. Fantastic. If you don't gig, just for the for the 50w 1x12 it will be plenty. Great sounding at the .5 w setting. A+ all around. Winner and for sure to win a product of the year award.

Comments about Boss Katana KTN-100 100W 2x12 Guitar Combo Amplifier:
Recently I fell on some hard times and unfortunately had to let all of my high-end gear go. I had always been a stickler for traditional tube amps but I decided to remain open minded about amp options in my budget range. I weighed all of my options in this price range both tube and solid state. I played over 20 amps locally at a music store and wasn't satisfied. Many of the lower priced tube amps in this price range were really lacking in clarity and didn't take effects pedals very well. The last amp I tried was this amazing Katana. It looked pretty sharp, but I almost dismissed it due to the price and it being a solid state amp. Once I plugged into the Katana, it was a godsend. The cleans are lush, warm and punchy. The different stages of overdrive were really organic and behaved like any tube amp that I have ever used. No, I'm not a fan of the built in effects, but they don't have to be utilized. Don't get me wrong, they sound GREAT but I have a pedal board with everything I need on it. This amp is absolutely stellar! I have owned some high end amps, and this really holds its own. Well done Boss!

Comments about Boss Katana KTN-100 100W 2x12 Guitar Combo Amplifier:
I owned the Fender Mustang 1 since 2012 and desperately needed an upgrade. Yes, the mustang is a nice little amp but lately has been leaving me unsatisfied with a nasal and muddy tone when it comes to metal. I needed something that ripped and kicked butt at a fairly good price. I played this at the store, was very nice, especially the brown setting, sounded gnarly and would rip your face off, but lacked bottom end. I ended up taking the risk and buying the thing. Took it home and holy cow does it sound good. After tweaking and fiddling, I have found a tone that shakes the walls and it is arousingly good, lol! It tears the walls down and it is such a great amp with such incredible power and tone. I love this thing so much and it has sparked even more motivation in me for guitar.

Comments about Boss Katana KTN-100 100W 2x12 Guitar Combo Amplifier:
This amp was purchased after much research. It was a Birthday present for our son, who turned 16, and is a very experienced guitarist, having played since he was 6. He was needing something to take him to the next level of professional performances. He is so jazzed and is having a great time with this amp. He has downloaded the software and is experimenting with it. This amp will easily play above an energetic drummer in a performace situation. The sound is very comparable to a professional guitarist that he jams with, with his tube amp. This is something he couldn't get close to with his previous amp. He looks forward to exploring everything that this amp offers, and having it take him into the future. Very pleased.
