Comments about Fishman Loudbox Mini Charge 60W 1x6.5" Battery Powered Acoustic Combo Amp:

An update to my previous review, I compared the vinyl used for the Mini Charge to the original Mini. The Mini Charge uses a very solid heavy duty vinyl. There have been complaints that the older regular Mini vinyl was easily torn.

Comments about Fishman Loudbox Mini Charge 60W 1x6.5" Battery Powered Acoustic Combo Amp:

My duo plays the occasional no AC power gig with an inverter running off one of our cars, but I was never comfortable with that setup (hood open, kids running around, no one watching...). I have a simple passive mixer to get my duo's two guitars into the Mini Charge's guitar input and an XLR Y-cable to put both mics to the mic input. We also play essentially all acoustic gigs, but I would like to be able to use my RainSong Parlor with 10s, which needs a little help to keep up with a Martin Dreadnought strung with 12s. The idea of an amp that is as portable as an acoustic guitar appeals to me (I don't need to plug-in an acoustic guitar).

The Mini Charge trades the older Mini's class A-B amp and analog power supply, for modern lightweight digital switchers. At roughly the same weight as the older Mini it adds a sealed lead acid battery. Within my willingness to endure loud, it seems to sound the same whether running off the battery or plugged into the wall adapter. The reverb is excellent, and the overall tone is probably as good as it gets for anything that small and light. I also tried an electric bass guitar and my Les Paul (with and without a Tube Screamer clone), and both sounded respectable too. Note that the Mini Charge runs on 12 volts with an AC adapter, which is also a nice option if you've got an extra 12-volt battery.

The price up-charge from the older Mini is significant and if you don't want the battery, clearly the older Mini is a better deal, but it is no lighter and the same size. BTW I got the free carry bag promotion and the bag is for me too protective and bulky and I would never bother with it.
