I had some money saved up and i wanted an amp that wasnt expensive or too big. I didnt want the AVT150 because of the effects channel clogging up the power and space. I wanted a simple 2 Channel amp with Good distortion and A clean channel. The Reason the features got an 8 is because the clean channel isnt very grand. Its just bass and treble. If you just need a plain Clean sound, AVT50 is your match. On the Other channel, the distortion is awesome. If you Want a great metallica sound, turn down the Mid knob all the way and crank the bass and put the treble knob up almost all the way. I was so happy when i discovered this setting. It sounded awesome. You might not want to use this amp with a low output guitar, it may not give you what you want. If you have a High output guitar/pickups such as a Jackson, Ibanez, Schecter, ESP, Gibson and some Fenders, this amp will be perfect. Also it does go loud, but not as loud as some might need. If you have a big band of people, it might not be the right fit, you might want to go full stack or AVT150. If you have a PA, get this amp. For the people who dont want to deal with all the extra knobs and Switches, this will be absolute perfection.

First of all, this amp is REALLY loud for a 50 watter. I can keep up with my 6 peice band just fine with everyone else having 100 watts a peice. Sound quality isn't that great. It's ok, but not great. the dual eq's are kinda chincy, no mid control on the clean channel. I really hate that. The roaring distortion is kind of an overstatement. It's got a good amount but it's not that amazing really. But for what your're paying for it, it makes par. But no more. And then again, no less. It's just an ok amp. I use it with the hope of buying new very soon.

EXCELLENT FOR GIGGING IN CLUBS!

By El Jalepeno

from TEXAS

For the money, this is an excellent amp. And you really are getting a lot for the money. I have used my for several months now gigging in medium to large size clubs without any problems. I can usually keep it on 4 or 5 without any problems. The only drawback is the effects loop doesn't have a level control, so you need to be cautious if you depend on the loop for your effects. Other than that, I stringly recommend it. Cripes, it's a Marshall! Did you expect anything less???

Incredible Deal

I bought this half stack about a year ago. This is an incredible deal for the money! Marshall has a winner here, the sound is great, as is the look. The AVT series are definitely the ultimate hybrid amps out there. I am still thrilled by this purchase!

Where is the crunch?

By Toolguy12

from Phx Az

I have owned the avt50h half stack for about 2 years now and have not been completely satisfied. It lacks low frequency volume and clarity. Although, i would highly recomend it for a smaller gigging band, because it definitely held up through all of the moving around we have done.

Good buy

I bought this amp/cabinet a few months ago and it has filled my expectaions and more. The 50 watts is more than enough for any inside venue. Both channels have superb tone from clean to crunch and are very versatile for any type of music. I play several types of guitars (Gibson, Fender, Ibanez) and they all sound great through this amp. The other guitarist in my band plays through a tsl100 and 1960 cab. In my opinion the avt50 and 412 combo sound just as good. I recommend this combo to anyone looking for a good deal for their money. If I've angered any of the hard core tube-amp traditionalists out there, I do apologize, but, solid state/tube hybrid technology has arrived my brothers!

I was SO wrong!

By WyldeFan1415

I saw this amp in the store and I was SO skeptical. But, I plugged in with a Scheter C-1 Classic and it was so freakin good! The thing didn't have many settings on it but that's okay, it made up for it with that raw untamed sound that any Marshall can and does produce! This one can run with the biggest and the best of them! Rock On, Horns Up!

Good rock amp

By Anonymous

from Undisclosed

A great halfstack for low price. Has enough power to do gigs with it and the tone's ok. Still, it's a hybrid amp and the clean needs more tone. Well, it's not a tube amp and you can hear it, but still it's a great amp! rock on.

This is a great half stack. Basic and clean, and the tone is beautiful. I recommend it to any player out there, especially a rock one.

Good Straight Forward Amp

By 2 1/2 Ninjas

from MN

I have owened this amp for well over a year now. Probably close to two and it is the perfect amp is you just like to plug in and play. It's got a great sound to it, I mainly use the distortion and it just has the perfect tone for my bands style of music. My favorite part about the clean is that you can't get it totally clean like Fenders. If you want it to be loud it has to be a little bit dirty and I think it sounds awesome. The only problem is the lack of a mid range on the clean but it still sounds good enough. I have abused this amp when bringing it to shows and just hauling it around and it hasn't broken, and I have never had any problems, I even spilled pop all over the head and no problems. It's definitely road worthy. A really good amp for the price.

I Had No Idea

By Anonymous

from Undisclosed

When I first encountered this product my mom wanted to bribe me with it, so that I would not take her to theripy. I was in a band at the time but I was useing a piece of junk that couldn't be heard over the drums, so I jumped at the oppertuneity. Simply it was more than I could hope for. It's crisp clean sound was awsom and the distorsion had endless gain. I was suprised at all the tones I could get out of it. I think that it is a great buy for any musician that plays anything with a lot of crunch to it.

Its pretty awsome. The only problem I have is the footswitch changes by itself sometimes. I have to get that fixed.

AVT50H Half Stack

By MikeyLikesIt

from Chicago, IL

Great sounding package for the money. I had a hard time deciding between this and the Crate GT1200H and GLX1200H 1/2 stacks. Much better than the Marshall MG100HDFX Korean made junk. I love the straight forward design, looks and simplicity of the amp - no stupid, useless effects to affect the tone quality and reliability (that's what effects pedals and processors are for). I like the smooth, warm tone of the 12AX7 tube preamp and the reliability of the solid state amp. The "clean" channel could have been cleaner (Crate's better) and a middle tone control would have been a nice addition. The "overdrive" channel its not that great (lacks punch, kinda lifeless and not convicing - my Marshall 8040 combo sounded much better), but who cares because I don't use it anyway. I use BC Rich and Jackson guitars thru a Digitech RP1 processor and Metal Master pedal and this 1/2 stack kicks major ass for the money. Perfect for begining/advanced guitarist and home/small venues gigs. Highly recommended and Made in England like a genuine, true Marshall shoul be. ROCK, ROCK TILL YOU DROP !!!

Consider buying this

By codyprang

I have an AVT50 head, and a 1960A cabinet. This head is a good head at lower volumes. When you're using the overdrive channel, You can't really turn it up past halfway, because it starts to feed back. You have to have the gain between halfway, and 3/4 of the way up, so that it doesn't feed back. The other guitar player in my band has a TSL100 and a 1960TV cabinet, so it's hard to keep up with him.The clean channel is okay at high volumes, just make sure to turn the gain down below halfway. Or it will distort a little bit. The reverb on the amp is nice. The bought my head used for 250, and my cab for 650, so I only spent 900 on my whole halfstack.Don't buy the AVT 412 cabinet. It's super tiny.

marshall fun

By SEEKskater

this is a good amp for any person looking for a good cheap stack. marshall quality is there, but you won't find tube quality really. my other guitarist just bought it and i've gotta crappy combo, so i'd take the marshall stack. if you're looking for more quality, then pay primo for a mesa boogie or a JCM.

Awesome amp.

Great amp. I bought mine used from a friend and I love it. You lose the clean tone when it get's loud, but it provides a deep overdrive that could kill a horse. And if you overdrive the clean channel you can get a nice dry faded sound to switch between clean and overdrive.

I love this Half stack! I ave been using low end half stacks for a while and have been trying other high end half stacks while i was looking and compared to other expensive amps this one is worth the price. It has a great tone and the distortion is killer! If you can get a hold of one get it!
