(Open Box) Loadbox, speaker-miking simulator and studio effects.

The Torpedo Studio is the next generation of digital loadbox: new features, new design, lighter weight. It updates and revamps the acclaimed VB-101, one of the first ever digital loadboxes to have hit the market. Its new features notably include a new loadbox with increased admissible power, a switchable impedance (4, 8, or 16 Ohms), and the possibility to choose between resistive and reactive loadbox. Its new, enhanced design makes it a more advanced, much lighter successor to VB-101.

Choice between resistive and reactive loadbox
Multi-impedance: 4, 8, 16 Ohms
Max input power: 150-Watt RMS (200W peak)

Comments about Two Notes Audio Engineering Torpedo Studio Digital Loadbox/ Speaker Simulator:

I've used several load-boxes in the past, both resistive and reactive. I used to own a VB-101 (the model that the Studio replaced) and it was nice, but, it was only resistive, so I sold it. The Studio can do both. What's the difference? Resistive is simply a means to run your power amp hotter (louder) to start to hear the power amp tubes open up while keeping overall volume down. Some power still passes to the speaker if you want it to ... some resistive units don't even require a speaker be connected. Bad part … resistive load boxes will change the sound and character of your amp as the load is linear. Speakers don't work like that ... the resistance and capacitance varies with frequency and volume ... I.e., more dynamic. A reactive load box 'feels' the speaker's reaction to the amp and vice-versa, thus, delivering a more realistic cabinet tone ... as in the cabinet you have connected. Two Notes has taken this to another level by adding a layer that you can 'change' cabs and mics as well as go straight through. That makes this piece very unique. Live, I use the Radial JDX (reactive) and love them, especially for the price. However, this is a far more versatile unit and will work great live or in the studio. I gave the Studio 4 stars because of the cost. I feel this unit should be grand or less. Other than that, great gear!
