OVERVIEW

Create your own Quilter combo with this lightweight modular speaker cab.

Introducing the most advanced guitar amplification system available for the guitarist of today. The Frontliner 2x8W allows you to mount any Quilter “Block” style amplifier in the rear mounted docking bay, turning it into a powerful grab and go 200 watt combo. Pick it up with one hand, walk onstage and easily outperform cumbersome 4x12 rigs!

Traditional bulky guitar combos have narrow dispersion patterns and cranking them up leaves the audience in pain and the sound man angry. Tilt back legs or stands help but kill bass response and don’t eliminate comb filtering from unwanted reflections.

The Quilter Frontliner 2x8W’s 20-degree speaker angle and ultra wide dispersion aim your tone where you need it instead of blasting the front row. The closed back cuts down on unwanted reflections making your sound more controlled and focused.

Not your average guitar cabinet, the Frontliner 2x8W is constructed from durable plywood that is mysteriously lighter than anything you can find at your local hardware store. No expense was spared in crafting the ultimate professional solution.

Easily locate and retain your amplifier with two rapid release thumbscrews instantly converting your Frontliner 2x8W into a 30 pound, high powered combo!

Comments about Quilter Labs Frontliner 2x8w 2x8 Modular Speaker Cabinet:

I bought this to pair with my overdrive 200 amp head. I really like the design of the cabinet. It's clear, punchy, and projects well. I can hear it no problem in a band. The issue I have with it is the use of two eight inch speakers. Clean and mild break up sounds are fine, but the lead channel on the OD 200 (distortion channel) does not sound good. The overdrive comes through buzzy and thin. It's a shame because this cab is very well designed but it's handicapped by the small speakers. I would totally get a 2x12 version with neodym speakers if they offered it. This is a dynamite speaker cab for most quilter users, but my Mesa 2x12 recto cab with V30s sounds much better. And it's not comparing apples to oranges considering the price and value prop. Quilter claims it could keep up with 4x12. That unfortunately is some marketing nonsense. It certainly punches above its weight class, but let's not get carried away

    Small but packs a punch

Comments about Quilter Labs Frontliner 2x8w 2x8 Modular Speaker Cabinet:

I have this paired with the Quilter 101 Mini head. At first I was concerned that the 101 wouldn't be able to keep up with my full band and was looking into the 201, but it is CRAZY loud so no worries there. I also ran it on top of my 2x12 cab and that pretty much blew my hair back \m/ \m/

So, I may not be using this setup the same way many would - I use it to amplify my Helix modeler. Sort of a combination amp/monitor (although I also tried it with some traditional pedals in front of it and loved it). While this probably isn't truly FRFR you can set the Tri-Q and Hi-Cut flat and use the Full Q voice (for the full 100 watts) and it is pretty close. Another thing is that the 8" drivers are actually PA replacement speakers so, again, close enough to FRFR for me.

One of the main things that attracted me to this is the dispersion that Quilter claims. While it is WAY better than a traditional amp, the high frequencies are still much stronger off the center of the cones. Seems obvious, but worth mentioning. Quilter, it turns out, can't break the laws of physics.

All in all this is a sweet little cab and competed favorably to a traditional 2x12 amp setup (50 watt Plexi) when I A/B'd. Maybe it's not going to replace the 4x12 you use in your metal band, but for a grab and go solution it is pretty awesome.
