OVERVIEW

An exceptionally affordable and portable app for acoustic players.

If you'e new to the world of acoustic guitar and would like to explore an extra dimension in sound, creativity, and convenience, the new Mobile AC is your perfect amp. Optimized for acoustic guitar and designed to travel, the Mobile AC delivers big sound in a package that can easily fit into a backpack. The amp can be used for up to 15 hours at a time via battery power, so you can take it anywhere. Simply plug in your acoustic guitar, turn up the volume, and enjoy clean, clear, and surprisingly powerful, spacious stereo sound from a compact amp. You can also add deep stereo chorus or lush reverb effects, and you can incorporate a portable media player and microphone for sing-along fun. Strum your guitar and sing, play along with backing tracks, and enjoy the Mobile AC at home or outdoors. It' also a handy personal monitor for use on stage, with a big sound that defies its small size.

Rich Stereo Sound
The Mobile AC is small, but its two 4" speakers produce a surprisingly large and lush stereo sound. Activate the built-in stereo chorus ” an effect that Roland is famous for ” and immerse your guitar in a pool of thick, swirling sound. There' also onboard reverb with a dedicated control knob, as well as a œWide effect for adding spaciousness to the sound. For the final polish, turn the TONE knob clockwise for a brighter tone, or counterclockwise for a milder sound.

Travel Friendly
Small enough to fit in a backpack and light enough for a child to carry, the Mobile AC is ready to travel. Take it anywhere you go ” to a friend' house for a jam session, to a small outdoor gathering such as a camping trip, or on stage for use as a personal monitor. It can run for 15 hours at a time on six AA alkaline batteries, so you can perform in any location, indoors or out. An optional AC adapter is available should you prefer to plug it in. A handy carrying strap is included, and an optional carrying case is also available.

Strum, Sing, and Jam Along
Strap on your guitar, invite a friend, and grab a microphone ” the Mobile AC has inputs for guitar and mic with independent volume controls for each, and you can even add lush reverb and œWide effects to the instrument and voice for a polished, professional sound. There' also a third input (with dedicated volume control) for connecting a portable media player such as an iPod, giving you an easy way to add backing tracks to your performances.

Comments about Roland MOBILE AC 5W 2x4 Acoustic Guitar Combo Amp:

Sometimes the amp 'chokes' (no sound comes out when the input signal is too strong. The sound returns when the input slignal level goes lower again. So it takes some experimenting to find where to set the volume of what you are inputting. This is not discussed in the documentation.

Also, Roland wants you to buy their ac adapter, so they don't even document the dc input that is used. It is 9v, 1 a Negative center.

The small size, and the 3 volume controls for the 3 inputs are the big plus of this amp.

Compact, easy to use but a little too bright for acoustic guitar . Controls for adjustment are quite limited.

Comments about Roland MOBILE AC 5W 2x4 Acoustic Guitar Combo Amp:

I use this amp for home practice and for performing in a small venue.
It really enhances the sound of my mountain dulcimer without making it sound too electric guitar-like. The reverb and chorus settings are easy to adjust.

Comments about Roland MOBILE AC 5W 2x4 Acoustic Guitar Combo Amp:

Pairs nicely with Epiphone Masterbilt acoustic-electric. I bought this to be heard at a small local bar where I occasionally play in a wood-paneled alcove that absorbs sound. This amp is highly portable and is adequate for a living room party or for the small audience I bought this for. The sound seems fine even cranked up, which isn't going to make the walls shake but loud enough to annoy the neighbors if you play late at night. It is sensitive enough to play at low volume in your bedroom and has a headphone jack. I play a variety of styles, flatpicking and finger-style, and am able to hear the effect of playing with the ridges of my fingerprints. (Not really a performance technique, but a gauge of how much sonic detail gets reproduced.) Not a gigging amp, it is good for when you want a small, battery-operated way to boost your sound. The reverb is a nice feature. The chorus is a heavy effect with no way to adjust it and I probably won't use it much. The "Wide" button seems to change the direction of the sound, but I haven't played with it enough to know how to take advantage of that feature. Optimized for acoustic guitar, I've played my Les Paul and D'Angelico hollowbody through it with fine results, obviously playing clean. I commented that this amp has good warmth, but I want to qualify that by saying it has good warmth for a low-powered amp with small speakers. Trebles are emphasized and lows are not prominent; still the sound reproduction seems faithful and not at all tinny. It sounds good. I am happy with my purchase and will keep this amp.

I bought this little guy for home use and for home recording. I have a Fostex MR 8 Multi track digital recorder. I feed my mic into a TC Helicon VoiceTone Harmony G XT Guitar and Vocal Effects Pedal then I feed it into the mic port on the amp and my Epiphone EJ-200SCE into the guitar port. I adjust my pedal (add the harmony vocals from the pedal) and the Phase from my guitar and I can feed this amp into the recorder and do simple one track demos with NO problem and with the amps stereo sound, it sounds great! It's also great to just plug into and play as a straight amp! I love it! great product at a great price! I highly recommend it!!!

Roland makes several mobile amps in this shape and size, (all of them are extremely powerful little things AND they have great sound, but this is my favorite of them all, and I say that because this is the only one that has a "WIDE" button, which is some weird phase shifting thing that makes it sound like the sound is coming out from 4 feet away on either side. when you back up it's as if you are watching a concert with sound coming from all around the unit, instead of just out of the little tiny box. This is very helpful when wanting to sound big with a little amp. +You don't have to be an acoustic guitar player to use this, it works great with many applications. I really hope they keep making it, if you were thinking of getting one, just buy it. Also u may like to know that the wide button works better when the reverb is turned up. it also has great sounding reverb... (the attached video demonstrates it with vocals, bass, organ, +drum machine) [fast-forward 3.5 minutes into the video to hear it with a distorted guitar sound. The near the end of the video everything sounds distorted but that is only because my boomerang looper was clipping cuz i turned several channels up to 10 in order to get the mix where i wanted it..)
