Precision play, vintage sound.

The Adams F5 is combination of vintage sound concepts combined with advancements in modern technology. This instrument features Adams' short action valves and a specially designed bell that complements the chassis. The Adams short-action valves are a straight, direct-air column ported valve-set with a compact feel and fast action. The special bell's profound resonance makes for a pure, rich, warm and very fluid flugelhorn. This horn is equipped with a full copper bell, which further enhances the instrument's lush and rich timbre.

Bell: Copper - 160 mm
Bore: ML 10.5 mm
Finish: Lacquer
Gauge: 0.50

Free-blowing with a dark and gripping tone.

Comments about Adams F5 Selected Series Professional Bb Flugelhorn:

I have great concerns that this instrument was not brand new as advertised or quality control at Adams is in serious trouble. There is a small scratch near the lip of the bell on the left-hand side as you look at it. Also, there are two small blemishes on the tubing near the bottom of the valve casing by the first valve. Finally, not as noticeable as the other two defects, is the finish on the tubing near the top of the valve casing where it begins to flare out towards the bell. When you look closely at it, there is what automobile painters would call an "orange peel" effect in the finish. When I'm paying thousands for an instrument, I expect it to arrive in flawless condition. This is not a cheap horn from China where I wouldn't expect the highest quality. I played the horn twice since I purchased it, probably not an hour total. I ordered a mouthpiece elsewhere and it was on back order so I had the instrument for a while before I actually sat down and played it and saw the flaws. The good news is that the instrument plays fantastic and I love the design of it. The rose copper finish makes the horn really stand out in a crowd. Although the scratch on the bell is small, it stares at me like a big zit on the tip of my nose. Very disappointed in the appearance quality, not the playability!
