A triple-layer snare mesh pad designed for expressive snare play.
Roland's PD-140DS V-Pad combines snare tradition with an advanced triggering and exceptional sensitivity, which is communicated to the TD-50 module via a high-speed digital connection. The three-layer mesh head is fitted to a standard 14-inch shell, providing natural rebound and feel that’s instantly familiar to play.
Thanks to a multi-element sensor system, your strokes across every area of the pad are more closely detected than ever before, and playing dynamics are captured in minute detail. In addition, traditional cross stick technique is automatically detected as the pad senses your hand position and adjusts accordingly.
Producing snare sounds that are natural, detailed, and bursting with character, the PD-140DS delivers new levels of performance and playability.

Comments about Roland PD-140DS V-Pad Snare 14" (Digital):
Just thought I would get that out there straight away. For some reason, it's a big secret these days where things are manufactured and you usually have to wait until some time goes by, so you can find things for sale used by a seller that has enough sense to take a snapshot of the bottom of an item, with a quality camera, to find out what country it was built in. It's electronic, so it's not going to be like the real deal... but... A definite step in the right direction by Roland. Very expensive... yes but at least there are some very noticable improvements. Especially on the rim shots. Very nice. It's also very nice now that my snare actually fits in the stand and the case like it's supposed to. It's is a great snare and it's built very well. Looks very attractive and the multiple digital triggers make it much more responsive. I'm not going to say it's just like an acoustic snare. I've always thought making that comparison is very naive. There's pros and cons to both acoustic and electronic drums and that's a no brainer. If you can afford it and don't mind throwing down some serious coin for something that you are going to beat the snot out of right out the box, I would say buy it.
