These are clearly designed to appear similar to Sony's 7506 model. To compare them to that, would clearly be unfair. These are entirely plastic, have a straight cable an do not sound as good.

BUT....

They do have a nice screw on style adapter, they do sound good with a slight scooped sound. The low mids are a little boomy and the high mids are a bit scarce. The highs are fairly clean and seem pleasing. They seem to pass volume at an acceptable level. I wouldn't mix on these but they aren't bad.

My overall impression of these phones is that while on sale, they are an exceptional value. It's not going to kill you if a guitarist leaves them on the ground and steps on them when they cost about the same as a drum head or two.

I am using 4 pair in my studio for musicians to track with and for that, they work very well. Good isolation, acceptable sound quality and fairly disposable. Also, it's good to note that while I prefer coiled cables, the straight cable on these seems fairly rugged and quite long. The molded jacks may short out eventually but replacing them with a more quality connector when they do would be an easy mod.

Bought a pair of these with a package deal, and at first I thought they sounded pretty good. Didn't last long though.

First, the bass on one of them started to distort badly in the left channel. Then, both of them started having crackling sound problems. Jiggling the cord sometimes solved it, which tells me there's a bad connection in the cord itself, or a bad solder connection at the jack or earphone.

Shortly after that, one pair quit completely, and the other seems to have a bad connection somewhere in it as well.

All in all, I got barely 4 months of light usage out of them before retiring them to the garbage can. They were being used in my home studio, and handled with the utmost care.

A bit surprising, since I own other Tascam equipment which has been very reliable. But, if you can't find better headphones than these for the asking price, you'd better hang it up.

You "should" get what you pay for, which in this case was far too much. I'd avoid these if I were you.

Comments about Tascam TH-200X Studio Headphones:

I received the headphones and put them on my head to adjust the sizing, then I heard it....
A rattling BB like sounds that was within the right earpiece.
Just great, I have purchased an instantly limited headphone...
Obviously something was loose in the ear piece on the right side.
Is that why it was the Stupid Deal of the Day? Hey Stupid, We have a deal for you...a set of headphones that you will constantly hear a rattle in the ear while attempting to listen to music. Thus Reason 101 for shopping at a Brick and Motor shop. Try it, Buy it, and go home....

Comments about Tascam TH-200X Studio Headphones:

I bought these for very cheap as one of the No-Brainer Deals. The end of the cord has been funky almost from day one. Jiggle it and you can get both channels to work if you hold it just right. My suspicion is there was a bad run of these with this problem and that's why they were selling them at that price, figuring (correctly in my case) that they were cheap enough that people wouldn't bother to return them. WATCH OUT for these No-Brainer Deals. I bought three very cheap mic clips that are USELESS. Plastic is so soft the mic slides right out unless you have it at just the right angle. Grrrrrr.

Comments about Tascam TH-200X Studio Headphones:

I purchased these as a "Stupid Deal of the Day" a few weeks ago. I've only really started giving them a workout over the last week of so. If you are looking for a pair of standard listening headphones, these are NOT a good choice. The overall response is very flat and transparent, JUST what you look for in a good pair for tracking and/or mixing. The comfort is fantastic. I've been wearing these for approx 4 hours a night for the last several nights and have not felt any head or ear fatigue whatsoever.

I've been doing a combination of learning and practicing new songs for my performing band as well as recording. It has been very easy to pick out parts in songs through these headphones. The initial results of some mixes I've generated late at night with these as my only monitors has shown positive results via playback later through speakers and earPods.

Overall, very pleased so far. My only concern is if they will last. They are so light weight that I do wonder a little about the overall durability but only time will tell.

I have and use Tascam products in my studio, and I have had good experiences with Musician's Friend.
However, I was disappointed last week, when I opened a brand new box of these headphones, and discovered there is an intermittent issue at the connector. I bought four of these too long ago to return them. Unfortunately, his kind of problem renders them useless. So far, one pair seems to be fine; one has the issue described, and the other two have not been opened.
If you are strapped for money, I would say these may still be okay for mixing, except they are a little "boomy" on the lower end. They are great for studio musicians and listening to some good tunes. A better choice for mixing would be to save on your monitors, then apply your savings on a set of AKG K701 Reference Headphones. They're very flat and clear.
Just wanted to give you a heads-up.
Remember: It's important to support the Arts.

I got these as part of a promo with a pair of studio monitors - so I did not need/want these at first. BUT my regular headphones broke, and there these were.

I give it a solid 4/5 - it does most anything you want. Sound is even and consistent, comfortable to wear, and seems durable. My biggest criticism is that they distort too easy at high volumes. I use these while DJing (and also have ear plugs in), so my head phones are LOUD, and with these guys, they distort at high volumes. Still very usable and comfortable, but which they held together better.

                            Again, overall good solid product.

Comments about Tascam TH-200X Studio Headphones:

The headphones were an open-box purchase. The headphones were performing

poorly, so I contacted customer service. I have other headphones in this line and

they work fine, so I'm thinking these headphones were bad initially from the factory

since they were actually returned at least once before. I ran them on numerous

devices just to make sure, however the sound quality was grainy and distorted on

every device tested - NO CHANGE IN QUALITY.

The left side of the headphone was broken fresh out of the box. It distorts when the bass is loud. almost sounded like it couldn't handle the bass. The right cup of the heaphone works fine. Even without this defected problem, the over all sound is very harsh, way too much high freq. Can't imagine using this in studio on recording or mixing for hours. The quality of the headphone feel very cheap. The only good thing I can say about it is that the sound isolation is pretty nice. I called musiciansfriend and they helped me setup return, painless, thank you.

A loose something in the headset.
I could not pick something to be more annoying when getting headphones.
Waste of time when you get busted stuff via online ordering...would have been time and cost neutral to just buy at a music shop....

I wish I had bought a few more sets of these headphones. At the Stupid Deal Of The Day price it was a real bargain. The fidelity is very good and they are very light weight. The only con is that they don't fold or collapse for easier storage.

                                              I would buy these again.

Comments about Tascam TH-200X Studio Headphones:

These are a OK sounding headphones. Not great. Though the packaging says, "Mixing Headphones" I would not want to mix with them. Two reasons: (1) the sound is not nearly as detailed as would be needed for mixing, and (2) I can't see them being very comfortable for a long mixing session. The space for the ears--the ear cup area--is kind of small. They will likely sit on top of your ears, unless you have small ears. My ears aren't particularly large, but I have to squeeze them into the ear foam areas, or simply place the headphones on top. I prefer the ear cups to fit comfortably around my ears, covering the entire area. These do not. They are small.

As I said before, the sound quality is OK. It's underwhelming. The detail is not there. Compared to high quality headsets, these are not even in the same league. (I have a pair of Denon and a pair of Sennheiser that make these sound like toys.)

All that said, these work great for tracking, where high detail sound is not essential. These do have very good sound isolation. They do have a good frequency balance. Plus, the 3m (9.8ft) cable is very useful for such situations. I got a couple of pair as a "Stupid Deal of the Day" to have them around for tracking. I do not plan to use them for everyday listening. I would not pay full price for these. Not worth it.

These headphones sound great and are comfortable to wear for long periods of time. I often use them to rehearse bass using a Vox headphone amp for hours at a stretch. I also use these at my desk at work. The closed back design does a great job of sound isolation so I don't bother my coworkers when I'm rocking out.

When they go on sale you simply can't beat the value. You should buy them. I own 4 pairs of these and recommend them to my musician friends for home recording.

Comments about Tascam TH-200X Studio Headphones:

Relatively new to Home Recording but been playing for 15 years. Bought as stupid deal of the day which made it an incredible value. Couldn't be happier. Haven't tried many professional models but these are much improved over the Tascam TH-02's.

Oval ear cups fit nicely and are very comfortable. Can pick up more nuances than the lower model as the closed back isolates sound nicely and the speakers are a little higher quality. Cord is solid and well attached and the screw down 1/4" adapter works very well.
