The way music is recorded has changed enormously since Musician's Friend was founded in the early 1980s. Back then, records were typically made in an expensive, 24 track studio & home demos were usually recorded on a 4-track cassette or reel-to-reel and could best be described as "lo-fi". Of course, artists still record in the studio and demos are still made on 4-track, but it is no longer absolutely necessary to pay for hours of expensive studio time in order to make a professional sounding recording. A basic recording set up can be built quickly and inexpensively. Couple a computer with some Music Production & Recording Software such as Pro Tools, an Audio Interface and a microphone and you will have the basic gear to enable you to start making recordings. The amount of equipment you can add on it is seemingly endless: Microphone Preamps, Effects Plugins, Mastering Software, Studio Monitors and Recording Microphones are just a few of the additional pieces of recording gear commonly purchased by recording engineers at all levels. All of our recording gear is supported by our price & satisfaction guarantees and free standard shipping applies to all orders except heavy items.
