They say imitation is the best form of flattery and nobody does it better than Squier. While the company may have started out making violins back in the late 1800s, it is now known worldwide as the more affordable version of its older sibling Fender. It all started when the V.C. Squier Company decided to start making instrument strings. By 1963, Squier had become the official manufacturer for Fender guitar strings so Fender bought the company, rebranded the strings under Fender and retired the Squier name.  While the Squier name sat dormant for almost 20 years, it came back with a vengeance in 1982 and hasn’t looked back. That’s when Fender discovered blatant knock-offs were being made of their instruments by a Japanese company and decided to set up its own manufacturing business in Japan. The Squier name was brought back and placed on the new vintage models. From that moment on, Squier has set the standard for providing musicians with “value brand” copies of Fender instruments, and that’s great news for aspiring guitarists on a budget.

A Squier electric guitar makes a great launching pad for your musical career. Most Squier electric guitars have a vintage look but are tricked out with up-to-date features. The Squier Classic Vibe Telecaster ‘50’s Electric Guitar is a prime example of old style combined with present-day details. Its design takes you back to the 50s but its features like a maple fingerboard, custom telecaster pickups and medium jumbo frets provide modern playability. Another vintage-inspired beauty is the Squier Vintage Modified Stratocaster ‘70’s Electric Guitar. This baby had its classic look tweaked and outfitted with everything you need to enjoy a smooth tone and great response with every strum.

Since Squier is Fender - they share the same trademarks, goals, standards and memorable designs -chances are you’ll discover a favorite Fender electric guitar made under the Squier name. Both the Telecaster and Strat are well represented and left-handed artists aren’t forgotten about either. When looking for a Squier electric guitar, it will really come down to personal preference. In the words of Squier, you can “Stop dreaming. Start playing!” And with such a variety of options, you’re sure to find one that has the sound and style you’re looking for.
