An effect cymbal can do a lot to set your drumming apart from the everyday. You could go all-out with an effects-heavy setup that puts a smorgasbord of sounds at your fingertips (or should that be stick tips?). Or, you can keep things mostly traditional but add an effect or two here and there at key points in each song. From over-the-top to super-subtle, it's up to you to decide how to put effects to work for you, and to decide which cymbals will be the right ones to get you there. But if there's one thing that's for sure, it's that this selection of thin effect cymbals is a great place to get started. Blending dynamic effects with the speed and fullness of a lightweight cymbal is a pretty great formula!

So how do you like your effect cymbals? If you're a fan of "sleeper agents" that will take the audience (and maybe even your bandmates) by surprise, check out options like the Zildjian K Custom Hybrid Trash Smash, the Paiste PST X Swiss Flanger Stack Bottom and the Meinl Generation X Rabb Drumbal. These cymbals won't attract a second glance until you actually play them - and then they're sure to get a lot of attention! Or maybe you prefer effect cymbals that everybody can see coming? In that case, how about the Zildjian ZXT Trashformer Cymbal, the Zildjian Spiral Trash Effects Cymbal or the Paiste PST X Pure Bell?

One way or another, low-key or high-profile, it's safe to say you can do great things with any of these thin effect cymbals as long as you know how to work them into your performance. Of course, the best way to figure that out is practice, so if you're on the fence about trying one of these out... don't be! Lots of drummers have put these cymbals through their paces onstage (sometimes there are even signature models in the lineup), and there's no reason you shouldn't be the next one to make a big impact with a few great effect cymbals.
