About Martin Modern Deluxe Guitars

The first lineup of Martin Modern Deluxe guitars released in January 2019. Each of its four acoustic guitar models has a Sitka spruce VTS top. The D-28, OM-28 and 000-28 each have East Indian rosewood back and sides. The Martin D-18 Modern Deluxe has a mahogany back and sides. Each Martin Modern Deluxe guitar features a Vintage Deluxe High Performance Taper neck shape. This ergonomic neck design makes them easier to play and more comfortable to play during longer sessions. Martin Modern Deluxe guitars feature a solid mahogany neck and ebony fretboard. You’ll also find a bone nut and saddle, Waverly gold open-gear tuning machines, and an ebony bridge.

The Martin OM-28 and 000-28 Modern Deluxe have an auditorium body shape. Each Modern Deluxe auditorium guitar has Adirondack spruce VTS 1/4-inch scalloped X bracing. These guitars have a tighter, more focused sound than the D-18 and D-28 Modern Deluxe, which have a dreadnought body shape. Each Modern Deluxe dreadnought has Adirondack spruce VTS forward-shifted 5/16-inch scalloped X bracing. The dreadnoughts have a fuller sound and are louder than their auditorium-shape Modern Deluxe counterparts.

Modern Deluxe replaces the Martin Vintage Series. Thanks to Vintage Tone System (VTS) technology, their Sitka spruce tops help create vintage sound. Martin’s VTS changes the cellular structure of the top to recreate vintage instrument tone. Combined with a dovetail neck joint and protein glue construction, Modern Deluxe guitars deliver beautifully aged Martin sound. Enhancing their beauty, Martin Modern deluxe guitars have flamed maple or East Indian rosewood binding. They also have stylish gold frets and a 1930s style script headstock logo.

There are several ultra-modern features as well. These make the guitars more playable and more easily adjusted. They’ll also stay in tune longer. The hi-tech features include a titanium truss rod that’s 64% lighter than a steel truss rod. Liquidmetal bridge pins with red dots increase volume by as much as 2 decibels. A composite carbon fiber bridgeplate also boosts volume without adding weight. Finally, there is a slight skew to its Vintage Deluxe High Performance Neck Taper. This means more playing comfort for every position on the fretboard.
